?

Did you want the Rockets to pick Whiteside or Patterson for the 14th pick?

Rockets are having a hell of a time against bigger teams like the Lakers. Back in 2010, Rockets had a chance to draft Whiteside. There was quite a bit of support in the forums, because our starting C was 6'6" Hayes.

Patterson is more NBA ready, but he still hasn't done much. Whiteside is at least another season away, before contributing.

Do you think the Rockets made a mistake? Should we have gone for Whiteside's potential? Patterson will never be a center and the Rockets are locked in with Scola for years.

lmao there's a reason Whiteside didn't go till second round. If I'm not mistaken it was after the pick we used.

Patterson was a good pick. Sacramento would give up Whiteside + more in a second if we were offering Patterson for him.

Just because he had a lot of support in the forums doesnt mean he is any good. P2 is a productive player and is just rusty this season because he is coming back from surgery and hasnt played in the offseason. Give him time. Honestly this is such an over reactionary post it should be taken down. Can people just settle down!

If Pau trade went, through, Patterson would be tearing it up by now. Scola has to go.

? Patterson would still be recovering and be playing behind Gasol and Nene.

They should have bought a 2nd round pick to get Whiteside.....he is a project, but dang it, we need some center types of projects.

To be fair to Patterson he has shown very promising sign's last year as a rookie. Not to mention his coming off of ankle surgery, so his lack of production should be expected. As for Hassan Whiteside, I was big proponent of his during the 2010 draft, but he was (and is) very raw.

Although I still believe he possess better skills and raw talent to become a good player, than our own raw project Hasheem Thabeet and to an extent Jordan Hill. I think if given proper time and development he can become the next DeAndre Jordan.

Nobody would be guarding Patterson with Gasol/Nene out there. He'd be able to go nuts. Although he is clearly knocking off a bunch of rust right now.

When Patterson is a solid 18-8 PF, the answer to this question will be obvious.

    One Thabeet is enough.

    Thabeet > Whiteside
Greg Smith (not officially a Rocket but w/RGV) > Whiteside
    Cousin = Whiteside

You can only use your resources on so many projects at a time.

I like your opinions DD, as crazy as they are at times, but you need to get over the whole Whiteside thing. He has done jack on a bad team. Whiteside was drafted exactly where he was supposed to be with the likes of Solomon Alabi, and Daniel Orton. Bad Centers are still bad.
