pretty much agree with you jopatmc. i was cringing every time Martin, Scola, Hill and Bud were on the same floor. We're just lucky Pau wasn't on his game. Getting abused by Kobe and Bynum is enough.
Typical r****ded knee-jerk thread after a loss. Everyone agrees that this team needs a superstar and some size but it's almost ad if the OPs premise is that moray and rockets are content w our team and/or are not willing to make a move. I know everyone here has a short term memory but what the f*** do you think the gasol trade + nene signing were??? Stupid thread is stupid.
I think people forget that Morey DID try and make a move to give us size. If you want to whine, go speak to Stern.
Dude . . .EZ - I'm not gonna start a knee jerk thread - but come on !!!! We played in LA who were desperate for a win - We have played on road vs, Orl, Memph, Lakers, and beat Hawks at Home - Honestly - We are exactly where the bookmakers and said we would be. Would it have been nice to steal one? Hell Yeah !! But we are not embarrassing ourselves here. Did you see the Scola scoop vs. Bynum? DANG !!! Sam is just getting in shape - Pat Pat is still on the mend - Lowry is already in Beast mode, Scola and Martin will be solid offensively all year, Martin has a new defensive energy, T-Will can still get his head right, Bud is stilll young and has improved leaps and bounds every year . . . which leads me to Jordan Hill . . . I don't even want to get started there - But - I see good things for this team and ACTUALLY I feel much better than I thought I would feel after losing Chuck (and Pau). I think this is a 5-6 seed team. Let's weather the tough early schedule and move on . . . This team is entertaining - Just wish they had any type of shut down defender . . .
knee jerk thread, you see these everytime we lose. We are 2 - 3 now, not 0 - 6 like we were last year. Our two wins were quality wins. Now, to your point, your correct, this team as constructed is not a contender, let alone even a contender to make the playoffs, however making a new thread about something every one already knows is pointless.
This is what I was going to respond with. Repped. Last year we started 0 -5 and we barely missed the playoffs. With Spurs having Manu injured, Dallas playing like crap, Memphis not living up to expectations, Phx and Utah out of the picture, we will make the playoffs. If there were any year to sneak into the playoffs, I think this would be it. Even the top teams are extremely beatable. We are not going to tank, so the most you can hope for is that we make the playoffs and our players get national recognition. Our schedule after the next 5 games or so gets muuuuuch easier.
If it gets us a Durant and/or a Westbrook, sign me up. Besides, why do you consider those teams unwatchable? Personally, I get much more enjoyment out of watching a team stocked with young talent that I know will be studly in a couple of years that I do out of watching a team stocked with mediocre talent that I know will be mediocre in a few years.
I think it is exactly the opposite. Kobe was very hot because he had a poor defender guarding him. That is why I miss Battier. He was not the 'lock down' defender as some called him, but players, one after another, kept having sup par games. 'Just one of those nights'.
SMH.....just 5 games in Like we would be any better with Gasol.....hahahaha. We'd still be a first round playoff team....that's if the lack of chemistry in a shorten season doesn't screw us over
I like what i saw yesterday compete until the last quarter...and lose the game! Fans stay interested in the rox while they quitely tank.
Man you guys are so dumb. We stuck around and were basically going head to head with the Lakers in LA with Kobe Bryant having a great great game...not to mention andrew bynum and pau gasol playing at the top of their abilities. That team is competing for a championship, we are trying to rebuild...and put up a damn good fight. it sucks to lose, but damn the Rockets played well...we could beat a lot of teams just by playing the way we played last night...and with that being said we had ALOT of room for improvement...so last nights game was ENCOURAGING to say the least.
The thing about the OKC comparison that bothers me is that Portland screwed up by drafting for position instead of the best player available. Take Durant off of OKC and replace him with a non-playing Greg Oden and suddenly the Thunder is not making much noise.
I understand the sentiment, but this post really sums up the problem. I don't want to 'put up a damn good fight.' I don't want to be proud that the Rockets 'stuck around.' I'm tired of 'it sucks to lose, but...' I don't want the Rockets to be a tough out, or an upset threat, or a loveable group of scrappy overachievers. I want the Rockets to dominate. I want the Rockets to be a threat to win it all for years to come. I want every team that plays them to be afraid. I want other fans happy when they stay in the game with us. I'm not satisfied with a team that surprises people when it makes the playoffs - I want a team that surprises people when it's not a top seed. Dominance should be our goal, not respectability, and if it takes a couple of losing seasons to acquire the necessary foundation for dominance, Les (and the rest of us) should man up and take our medicine.
If he was playing terrible defense Kobe's points would've come from dunks and lay-ups. Last night he was nailing turnaround jumpers with a hand in his face. There may be a certain confidence that Kobe plays with when younger guys are guarding him but overall I thought Bud did a good job staying in front of him. Where we miss Battier is that he could've forced him into a poorer shooting percentage without having to throw a double team at him. McHale should've of recognized Kobe was getting hot and thrown the double on him sooner.
