I think Martin should be traded but I think we should keep Scola. For all his faults, scola is a champ, a hustler, and selfless.

We do need to trade for wing that can defend and has size. Whether that's Granger, Affalo, Gay, Iggy so be it.

Morey already knows what he needs to do. Just getting impatient.

I doubt Martin and Scola get traded so early in the season. Patience.

    Exactly, what else is new.

Unless, the OP is the one who always vouched to keep this team intact because he thought that eventually they would contend. Was that you jopatmc? I honestly can't remember if you were the one with the unreasonable expectations. If that's you, then I understand reality hitting you badly, if it isn't then my bad.

Does anyone actually think this Rockets team is going to pull off a miracle this season? I don't.

How about this -> Our starting center couldn't beat out Eddie Curry for a job.

    Enough said.

But why does everybody assume Morey IS going to stick with this squad? Every indication is that he's ready and willing to pull the trigger and send important pieces elsewhere if he can get an all-star level player, and that he's always looking for a deal like that.

Of COURSE there will be changes. Everyone just needs to calm down. It's not like we had any chance of winning it all this year anyway.

Because every year, we hear the same old talk about trading for a superstar, and every year, nothing happens or we get another wack player.

If like you said "It's not like we had any chance of winning it all this year anyway", then how come we r not playing our young guys more- guys who never had a chance last year. why are we still fronting the same lineup that is only gonna get us .500 record and another #14 or #15 pick. Whats so sexy about being average

    Because tanking guarantees NOTHING.

I don't think our problem is really bigger than any other problem.
We just need good talented depth......

What really hurt us that Patrick is not producing, and Jordan is still inconsistent. If we had a Dalembert who could play 30+ minutes and another good PF backup we would be fine.

I don't see what's new about the OP's observations. We all knew this already.

I'd rather be happy about Kyle Lowry showing he is a star, and one of the best point guards in the NBA. Wish we had him locked up for more years.

If we could somehow turn Kevin Martin and whatever else (draft picks, anything other than Lowry and Scola) into somehow getting Dwight Howard on the roster...oh man. Lowry, Scola, Howard....that would be nice. Yeah, I'm dreaming.

Worked for San Antonio. It gives you more of a chance at getting a high lottery pick which obviously is easier than trading for an allstar.

Also worked for OKC and countless other teams.

At some point a bold roster must be made. Even if it is a rental of a superstar for 1 year, at least that allows us the opportunity to convince that star to stay. If it doesn't work out, then we'll suck for a year and finally get the opportunity to draft a superstar with a high lottery pick.

There is a difference between tanking and not being very good.

Another knee-jerk thread, as after every loss. Typical CF. As Morey said, we have a ridiculously tough schedule for the first 10 games and if we make it out 5-5 that would be a fantastic result. 4-6 would be a typical playoff team.

    Stop panicking.

Wow you need to be hired by NBA TV to replace McHale for your groundbreaking analysis. This is almost the same squad as last season..therefore results will be an above average result like last season between 8th-11th spot in the west. THis is a fact of life.

Guys I was so wrong. So wrong. The Gasol trade screwed us over big time. It prevented us from moving on from Martin and Scola. Their negatives outweigh all the positives they have. And they prevented us from getting a solid big lineup.

Lowry, Gasol and NeNe +Chuck would have been so much better than Lowry, Martin, Scola, Dalembert.

Im sorry I doubted you Morey. Bad luck, real bad luck. Stern better make it up to us.
