You dont need to be a genius to see that even after signing Sam, the Rockets cannot compete with the Lakers inside the paint or for that matter any team with a strong inside offense. Maybe I am over reacting but I use to believe the Rockets could some how use their youth, teamwork, and creativity to win games. But when your PG is your best rebounder and your 2 big men can barely even get points...thats just unacceptable. I am more then ever convinced changes need to be made if this team is going to get anywhere in the next 3 or 5 years. I feel like no player on this team is or should be safe in order to gain an elite big man. I can say for all Rockets fans that tonights game was extremely hard to watch and like many of you I have had enough with our size disadvantage for so long.
For the past couple of years, the Rox have been cheap with the roster, sure they get one or 2 star, then the rest of the team is made up of rejects or midgets e.g chuck hayes at 6'5 playing center, lowry at pg, all of our pfs the last couple of years. Honestly, if you're 6'9 and under, you shouldnt be playing pf or center, yea yeah yeah i know- there are many exceptions. But how many of those exceptions are on the rockets
dont roll ur eyes at me cupcake, scola and patterson are undersized pfs. Patterson better start working on his long range. Scola is too old to change now, and should be coming off the bench But 6'10 and up is ideal for pf. 7' and up is ideal for center But im guessing ur one of those used to chuck Hayes playing and does not know any better
Tonight, Chuck Hayes vs Marc Gasol: 8pts/3reb vs 14pts/15reb. Teamwise, Grizzlies put up 113 on the Kings without Randolph. Regardless of whether or not he's more effective, he's still a lot less effective than a true center.
Chuck Hayes on the Rockets played better than the Chuckster on the Kings Well....we still need more Centers
or Charles Barkley vs Shawn Bradley. Even though there is a point to be made that size does matter in Basketbal, none of your posts make any sense.
Patterson and Scola are in the ideal size range for an NBA power forward, and Patterson has the athleticism for the position as well. Scola's issue isn't his size but rather his lack of jumping ability, but he makes up for it with an excellent skillset which makes him a valuable player, though not an all-star caliber one.
You got it backwards. Most teams are not starting a 7' and up center. How many had 7 ft+ centers starting? Teams are used to starting 6'10-6'11" centers like Horford, Noah, DHoward, Stoudemire, Chandler, Blair, Camby, JO'Neal, Okafor, GMonroe, AJefferson, Cousins, DJordan, Perkins, Gortat, KBrown, and Okur. That's 17 out of 30 NBA teams. The leading all-star vote leader for C was DHoward, 6'9" without shoes and 6'10 1/4" with shoes. He is about 6'10 1/2" now. Size matters, but athlecism matters more nowadays. It's not the '90s with 300 lb centers. Most of those guys don't have careers anymore. It's all about the athletic 6'10-6'11" 280 lb or less C nowadays like DHoward, Chandler, Stoudemire, Cousins. Most of the 7'+ centers, Thabeet and Whiteside, come off the bench or don't play at all. Bynum is in the minority of teams that start a 7'+ center. There aren't any 7' coming through the drafts either. They usually end up as busts, because they aren't athletic enough. These 6'10-6'11" Cs like Cousins, last year, and Drummond, next year, are the future.
