Nene signed with Denver for more money than we could have offered, I think he might have been playing us for leverage.....

If we only had Pau and that is all that was reported, we would be in the same boat, and have Pau and his declining abilities in the paint for the next 3 years.

If Morey was pissed off the deal was killed I believe Morey thought we would be getting better.

Lowry is an All-star and adding Nene and Gasol would have made us contenders.

Everytime I think about the non-trade, I think about the executive who said this would set us back 3 years.

make a poll...oh wait you won't because the results said at the time of the trade that by a 2:1 margin people hated that trade and was glad that it didn't go down and it is likely to be the same result if you polled everyone again.

I was livid when the trade was vetoed and now I'm just pissed off. It certainly doesn't help having to argue with people about the merits of the trade. Nothing we can do now...

I'm just glad we will never have to see the douche that is Pau Gasol in a Rocket uniform.

I would rather go 0-82 with Luis Scola than to ever see that ass cheese in Rocket red.

We would certainly be better with Pau, nene and Lowry but you never know how motivation issues could affect Pau and Nene.

Plus I thought people want to tank anyways.

Dalembert has been a nice surprise. Scola is still solid...
But Pau Gasol and Nene front court combo would have been a lot better...
Not to mention we lose Kevin Martin and get an upgrade by starting C-Lee...

Why do you keep saying he signed for more than we could have offered? I think that is untrue. He signed for 13 million per year, and the Rockets would have been more than that below the cap after the Gasol trade lowered their payroll and they amnestied Thabeet, as was reported was the plan.

Also, even if it would have just been Pau, front court of Pau, Dalembert and Hayes would have been much better in the paint than what we have now. That trio, along with Lee at the 2, would have allowed the Rockets to be one of the toughest defensive teams in the league.

Regardless, I see little reason to doubt that it would have in fact been Pau, Nene and Chuck manning the 4/5.

You think so? Because face it Nene is overpaid now and would have been overpaid by Houston, 5 years and 67 million for 13.8 points and 7.2 boards per game so far, those are around his averages for the last 3 years so you know that's basically what you are going to get.

Gasol on the other hand is getting paid nearly 19 million bucks and is obviously declining and is highly expendable for LA that's why they want to trade him because they know that he is declining.

The trade sucks now for the same reason it sucked in the offseason. Too much money tied up in a frontcourt that is not worth it, leaving zero flexibility in terms of the salary despite Lowry's respectable contract. Leading to an assured lack of progress towards a championship team and no hope of ever landing a top pick in the draft.

Why are you even trying to sell this today of all days coming off a loss where a big like Bynum dominated us? Are you a league rep trying to convince us all Stern did us favor or are you actually pretending to be serious??

we still wouldn't have done much with gasol. he would cry and sulk that he's left flashy la to play in houston and play soft the playoffs and give us a first round exit.

Regardless if it made us worse or better it blocked your GMs plan to get two big guys and follow through with his few years ahead of time planned out trade.

Because 2/3 of Clutchfans thought the Rockets would've been worse off with the Gasol trade.
