So, I just read the Hoopshype Tracy McGrady interview in the Dish and found out about his technology company: Dasdak(www.dasdak.com). Here's the service summary:

    <object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/SQkuxG5lAo0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/SQkuxG5lAo0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></embed></object>

    Any thoughts?

So, if someone orders a Budweiser on their phone, but they get a Heineken, is it still T-Mac's fault?

i thought it was kind of creepy, in a way. terrible acting, and way too long. reminded me of something the "celebrities" on celebrity apprentice might slap together.

as for the product itself, it seemed a little cheesy and farfetched.

There are other videos on the website describing the service in more depth but, basically, here's how it works:
    • Dasdak is a hosting service for ordering pages for businesses
    • Dasdak doesn't make the ordering pages, themselves. The businesses or an advertising partner, who may not be involved in the business, makes the pages
    • A consumer can then go to the Dasdak page and order with an additional $1 Dasdak fee
    • The Dasdak fee is split between Dasdak and the entity that owns the page 50/50: $0.50 goes to Dasdak and the owner, each
I don't think it's that farfetched. Business that don't want to operate but want to have an online ordering system can opt for Dasdak's solution.

Interesting concept...relies on smart phone users and there are still many who do not have that yet. A personal valet or assistant via phone technology... yes this could be the future.

"After 14 years on the road in the NBA, I want to order on my phone from the locker room and have the delivery by the time I get to my hotel room."

I don't want to have to wait for the toilet to flush, I want to do it from my phone.

    lol

actually throughout the entire commercial that probably made the most sense in terms of what this service can do

that is if i was in the nba or a celebrity that was too lazy to not get anything myself.

i can see this "elite" concierge service working for some instances/products but not everything. Ordering a drink while at the restaurant? Seems like it would take longer to do that through a phone than to just tell the waiter when you order the drink to request to come back in 5-10 minutes to see if you want another drink. Plus on top of that it seems that if its catering to upper class folks they'd be at restaurants where service is exceptional and not the local olive garden or applebee's.

but then again the commercial did show some average Joe's picking up their order at a drive thru so who knows?

"I would like to be able to order my microfracture surgery and also tell management of my team, without them finding out through someone else [presses buttons on phone, switch scene]... I would like to be able to stand at halfcourt... not being a part of the offense... and still get paid to play this game... and I [badly acting, pointing at self] believe [badly acting, pointing down] that moment is NOW..."
    - Tracy McGrady

    :( @ :45... :( That's what she did NOT say.

AS A "soccer" fan, I would use this:
    <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/QaHZal7Pc5Y?version=3&feature=player_embedded"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/QaHZal7Pc5Y?version=3&feature=player_embedded" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

    webvan 2.0?

interesting...but i can't see myself going to a restaurant where it would make sense to pay an additional $1 to order a drink on my phone instead of just motioning to the waiter. Most of the examples were a little silly, IMO.

Phone ordering will come. But I don't think this intermediary company will be needed. Sorry TMac.
