Like calling Lowry a potential allstar 2 years ago?

I think he's talking about this thread, the one he's posting in.

It's fine to stick to your convictions, and you may be very well still be right at the end of the day, but it's not looking good at the moment, if you still contend that Marcus Morris is the face of the franchise.

I'd give CXbby the benefit of the doubt because the lockout, lack of regular practice and proper training camp, has severely limited Morris' opportunity to shine.

I mean we saw from the Spurs game that Morris can score efficiently, he has a very solid jumpshot. That's something that transitions well in proper NBA games.

But I guess at the end of the day we still have Budinger and T-Will to develop. If one of these guys were traded Morris would be getting 20 minutes a game easily.

I hope he can turn it around quick, but I think it's gonna take him a season to get his skills to the level that they need to be for a NBA small forward.

Look, I can empathize with CX, he got excited, made a bold prediction and it back fired, I can tell you from experience that no one will remember the ones you got right, but they will toss this one back at ya all the danged time.

    ;)

No one remembers Scola, they all remember Langhi....lol.

LOL, of course no one remembers it.

It's not like you picked Scola from the backstreets of obscurity - the guy was universally considered the best player not currently in the NBA before signing with the Rockets.

Him achieving a moderately successful career in the NBA isn't exactly an earth shattering development nor a display of forecasting acumen on your part.

It's about as memorable as when you used to brag that you "called Yao!" So did about 94.7% of all other BBS posters.

There is a clear difference between making a strong point with little people agreeing with you, and making a strong point with the majority of people agreeing with you.

One is finding diamond in the rough, the other is basically saying I predict Steve Nash will be a future HOF.

If I recall correctly, the majority of the board (maybe around 60 percent) thought Brooks would help the team better as a starter than Lowry. Turns out the minority of posters were 100% right about Lowry.

At the end of the day I still think Morris will be better than the majority of the rookies.

Actually a good number of people did not want Yao. Which was shocking, honestly.

    But I get your point.

My point is that folks will generalizes something said to make a bigger point than was ever intended....

Either way, CX made his prediction, I don't think any true Rocket fan wants him to be wrong.

I think it's less about not getting credit for being right, and more about consistent analysis over time.

A broke clock is right twice a day.

I can blindly say player X,Y, and Z are likely to turn out to have A,B and C careers and hit some and miss some.

It's obviously too hard for most posters on this BBS to accurately say "well, 75% of the time that guy is right." With DD, it's a little easier, since he has such a oft repeated track record - Langhi, VSpan, Yao, Brooks...

...but for most, I have no idea if they have any clue what they're talking about. So when a thread like this is started, and CX so strongly and so boldly and so confidentally predicts what he does, I have no way of knowing whether his analysis has any merit at all, and can only judge him based on the strength of this particular conviction.

To come in later, when his original analysis is appearing to be unlikely to be fulfilled (though certainly still very possible, just increasingly unlikely), and retro-actively point to some prediction 2 years ago about Kyle Lowry being an all-star PG seems to be hedging on his part. One, I'm not sure he said that, though I'd expect he can find a link. Two, Kyle Lowry still isn't an all-star. Three, one has very little to do with the other. We're talking about Morris here, and whether or not he will be the future face of the franchise.

I wish CX was 100% right. But no training camp, no practice, and a labor dispute (which meant no contact w/the organization for a while) = NO CHANCE for Marcus. But he needs floor time & his tool box is full. This could wind being a very positive thing Marcus & the Rockets.;)

At the moment we'd be better off with Zack Morris.

Jokes aside a stint in the D-League is exactly what he needs and will do him no harm at all as long as he doesn't take it as an insult.

Could it be that it sounds like a pile because it probably is. Bud is still starting, and M-Mo is rotationally behind Chandler Parsons. He looks more like a scrub than a franchise player.

Dude there are MANY nights where Bud looks like a scrub too. Same goes for J.Hill & others, which is why no one is untouchable on this team.

    ?????

    skills???

    ??????

Skills isn't Morris' problem. He hasn't been aggressive enough because he's trying to fit in and he's listening to Lowry. It's more of a temperment issue. Morris is a highly skilled baller.

Fair enough, but cx is trying to make M-Mo into Dr. J-Larry Bird-James Worthy all rolled into one. At this point Morris is closer to scrubdom than superstardom. No one is claiming Budinger, Hill, Patterson etc. are even stars ... yet.

As others have said, no training camp etc. hurt Morris a lot. He'll go to the D-league and hopefully come back to the Rockets this year. If we trade Bud then he and Williams and Parsons can fight over the SF spot. He wasn't going to get much playing time with the team as it is so going to the D-league is fine.

Also, we can't really tell how he's going to fare given that he's only played 7 minutes in the NBA. Give him time.
