A lot of lotto guys get PT. As far as it working...I mean I guess...but it's not like every rookie NEEDS to go to the Dleague. How do we know if there is any difference in his development if we haven't seen him in the NBA at all?
A head coach on NBATV said that his team would only have eleven practices all season. This blog touches on that, saying that the Rockets' next practice won't be until next week. With no practice time or playing time on the horizon, what's the harm in sending Morris down to the D-league? Would you all rather he just wave towels from the bench?
I think you will find that the players in the top 10 are more NBA ready than players outside of the top 10.
Why would we want him to play at the 4? Do you really enjoy fueling the undersized PF trend we seem be continuing? I'd rather see him develop into a 3 so he holds advantages offensively against other teams. Not sure if serious..
Morris has the skills to be good now. He displayed excellent body control, an above average first step, solid handles, and good shot mechanics. He just needs to understand our system. Rio Grand will acclimate him to the offense and allow him to play fill time sf.
I don't see the downside of this at all. Clearly Marcus is in a logjam of wings and forwards. He'll get plenty of minutes and shots in RGV, which will only speed up his development.
I think the only reason we're one of the few teams you see that from often, is that we have control of our D-League counterpart. They can track his knowledge, skill, and PT all while giving him the maximum amount of court time possible. It's like him playing for the Rockets extended family.
I am very concerned about the matchup against Gasol and Bynum. It reminds me of the Grizzlies game. I hope we won't get blown out.
good thing they didnt wait longer...let this guy work on his talent...cant wait to see him when he gets back...im liking a future rockets team with him at the 3 and patpat at the 4.
Look i know everyone here wants him to be our answer at the 3, but he is the same height and weight as Patterson. Patrick only saw a little playing time at the 3.
Given the lack of PT, lack of practices, past history of success with this process and relationship with our D-League team, this seems like a no brainer. Still, it is frustrating that the Rockets either just miss the playoffs and are stuck at 14, or barely make the playoffs, and remain in this state of limbo where we see the Carl Landry's of the world turned into the Marcus Morris' of the world, and the only difference is I'm four years older. This is why so many on this board are in favor of tank or overpay on a trade for someone like Cousins. Random question - how different are Marcus' and Markieff's games? I recall Markieff was thought to be more of a PF, with Marcus more of the SF/PF combo, but seems like Markieff has a decent outside shot, too?
Markieff is definitely a stretch 4 with the 3-pt shot. However, he is a catch-n-shoot player with no handle. Marcus has a handle.
