That he is. But he wouldn't be remotely available if he wasn't.

Also, I don't think the team will make the "Gasol Trade" type offer for Cousins, but more like the Artest Trade (Donte Greene plus a 1st Round Pick) or Kevin Martin Trade (Carl Landry) type offer, which would be reasonable, given both the upside and the downside risks.

That's true, but I don't know if McHale commands the respect from the players as a coach. A lot of great players have failed miserably at coaching.

I am fine with taking a shot, but people need to know what we would be getting here - he is going to create drama. Rocket fans don't have a high tolerance for this stuff and it just seems people forget the t-mac situation a great deal.

My preference would be to just blow this team up and go for draft picks everywhere and anywhere. keep only Lowry and dump Scola and Martin and anyone else any other team has an interest in.

This guy is a powder keg waiting to explode into a disaster. It will happen.

That's why he is available. If we are smart we will pass, because the lure of his talent is fool's gold. It takes a very strong personality to control a guy like this, and even then he will cause trouble. But we don't have that personality.

People think Phil Jackson controlled Dennis Rodman. He didn't. He managed him a bit, but more than that, he managed people around Rodman to accept his freakish behaviors.

Cousins needs to play with veterans and a strong willed coach. Otherwise it will be trouble.

So Championship (Odom/Sheed) or Bust (Coleman/Marbury)

    I'll take those chances

Me too, but Le$ won't allow it, so we have to try the next best thing.

He may explode, but it doesn't have to be a disaster. The key is to minimize the impact of the explosion.

So, you don't give away too much for him, so that

    1. If he doesn't work out, you haven't lost too much of your assets.

    2. You want have a roster on which Cousins is expendable: If he doesn't help the team, he doesn't get minutes and you can still play good basketball without him. I think a big part of the problem with those SAC teams is that they've sucked with or without Cousins-- this leads to a lack of respect for both the coaches and the teammates (why are you pointing the finger at me when everyone is making mistakes?).

To me, the team can conceivably trade for Cousins without giving up any of their top core players. Something like the NY 2012 pick plus some combination of the younger guys on the team (Hill, Dragic, Lee, Morris, Motijunas) would allow the Kings to say that they've gotten plenty young talent in return to continue their rebuilding effort.

"Noooo, don't try to win now!! Rebuild! Tank! Get draft picks!!!"

When former top 5 pick who plays center and averaged 15/8/2.5 in 28mpg as a 20-year-old rookie (possibly) becomes available:

"Noooo, bad attitude, do not want!!!"

When you don't want to tank and want young guys with talent, you're going to come across the headcases. If they weren't headcases, they most likely wouldn't be traded.

First of all, I think it's more likely that this is a result of the system he's in rather than some personal proclivity for bad play. You'll recall he was a very efficient scorer in Kentucky who did most of his damage from the post. At the very least, it's a style he's capable of.

I'm also less worried about his psychological profile. Dennis Rodman, Ron Artest, and Rasheed Wallace were all known head-cases, far worse than anything we've seen from Cousins. They were also valuable contributors to championship teams. Lest you dismiss them as role-players, KG, Iverson, Kobe, and even Saint Michael have all been at times described as angry, hyper-competitive ball-hogs. That didn't prevent any of them from being the foundations of contenders.

Sacto won't give Cousins up, but if they do, we have to get him. He has superstar size and skillset, and while his mental makeup is a concern, he at least errs on the side of too much passion and aggression rather than too little.

    I am John Galt

For Cousins, trade Scola and Hill or Bud.
I live outside the USA and do not get to see our Rockets oftetr. I depend on CluchFans to keep me up to date. This is the first web site I visit every morning. Thanks

Called MJ and Pippen... Rodman went to SA and gave that team HELL!!!

I agree Cousins needs to go some where with veterans...

Houston needs to stay far away from this guy.

Headcases with talent are people we have to target since we don't want to tank.

Not hearing much interest in Cousins from Houston. Could change, but right now Rockets not looking in that direction.
