If Dallas get a high pick I wouldn't be surprised if deal to move Marion's contract. It gives them the cap space to sign both Deron and Dwight to play with Dirk.
Who does this sound like Tracy McGrady? No DeMarcus Cousins http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=An27iyVpWVZyUGT.xYs5n185nYcB?slug=ap-kings-cousins I never had a problem with T-mac and his work-ethic, but since most of the people here did...how come we're jumping to acquire a guy with an apparently even worse attitude than the guy we ran out of town?
The Rockets are in a desperate situation, they have no superstar talent and they need to do whatever it takes to obtain one. The franchise has nothing to lose. It's not like the Rockets are contending for a title or they would be giving away a young potential superstar. Worst case scenario Cousins is a bust and we have a better pick for next years draft.
I haven't seen him much in Sacramento. His rebounding is what I expected from him, but field goal percentage was very low last season. His FTA rate was high so if he ever became average at FG%, he would be efficient at scoring. Fouls a lot.
Tracy atleast gave us 4 years before he ran out of town. And when he was run out of town he was a broken down player. I'd be thrilled if Cousins is able to give us 4 years on that kind of performance. That said, give them some young big men (Hill,Morris) and Flynn for Cousins and a garbage contract... Doesn't hurt to gamble, especially with McHale as our coach.
That was not a "calculated risk". What was the risk? We gave up about 20 games of Battier and agreed to take on the last full year of Thabeet's terrible rookie contract, and in return were given a future 1st round pick. There was no risk. We gave up nothing. That was an example of Morey using a team's salary cap needs as a way to squeeze a draft pick out of them.
Man this team as is...is not going any where. I hate to be reluctant to break up what has been a mediocre team and what looks to be a mediocre core. I think Lowry+Cousins is an exciting duo to add around. If any team can get the best potential out of their young guys it has been the Rockets. We seem to get the best out of our guys, even 2nd round guys who seem to be scrubs turn out to be serviceable players for us. If any team can get the most out of Cousins it's this team right here. Lowry would give him a lot of open looks and if Scola is still around he'd be a good presence for this guy I hope.
Also whose to say he's not salvageable mentally? No one knows why he has demanded a trade but people say Martin is a reasonable guy and even he wanted to leave from there. It could have something to do with Evans...
No scoring big man would look good on the kings. Cousins has a bad attitude because he wants the offense to be ran through him. On the Kings he is the third option. He shoots such a terrible percentage because he plays with so many ball hogs Tyreke, Thornton and Jimmer. When he actually gets the ball he feels the need to shoot because he knows the ball won't be passed back. Cousins would play much better on the Rockets.
Yeah I actually agree. Our guys share the ball and a lot of our bigs get easy shots. Cousins can finish around the rim, that's something he will always be able to do. Of course his post game could be better...but what players has a polished post game the 2nd year in the NBA? Not many. It's worth the risk IMO. This team as is...is average. Everyone knows that. Maybe they get hot and get a 7th-8th seed. But does anyone expect any thing more? They are always a superstar away from doing anything more and while Cousins is no superstar right now he definitely has the potential to be one. Although I think Lowry-Scola-Martin are all all-star quality players I just want to contend and it's rare for a team to do that without a superstar player. Until we find one, we're just sitting in the middle of the pack like always.
Yea, I for some reason am pretty optimistic about this as well, Morey's been after Cousins since the draft, and the Kings have history with us. That is not reason enough to trade him to us, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt the negotiating process. While we may not have assets to get a CP3 / Howard, we do have enough to get a troubled, 2nd year headcase player. I just hope we can hang on to Lowry in the process.
...many of you guys are missing the point here. I'm talking bout a 3 way trade! If Houston can facilitate Cousins getting to Orlando, I think there is a strong chance we could get Dwight Howard. Not sure what the Kings want for Cousins but a couple of team players might be in order...how bout: Houston Gets - Dwight Howard & agrees to take Hedo Turkoglu(hopefully to amnesty) Orlando Gets - Cousins, Kevin Martin, and Travis Outlaw, Sacramento Gets - Luis Scola & their choice of Dragic, Jordan Hill, or TWill Why Houston does it - take a risk on getting a legit bigman/superstar in town. Why Orlando does it - mix of starter worthy vets and a young potential superstar big and they shed some salary. Why Sacramento does it - replace Cousins with a couple of vets who play the right way and get rid of Outlaw to a team that could use him as a stretch 4 which is the role he thrived in when he was in Portland.
We can't amnesty Hedo after we get him. Travis Outlaw can't be traded. Cousins is still a question mark. We need to up his value and show the Magic he could possibly be the guy for them. We also would need D12 to commit to playing for another year. Otherwise, it's useless. Overall: Won't happen and can't happen
