how can anyone hate this.. worst case scenario, we lose all our high dollar players and tank for two years and get some badass draftpicks.. thats what half of you want anyways isnt it?
T-Will will get all kinds of pt if he was actually traded to the kings because Donte Greene is terrible.
Hmm, back in 94, there's was a player by the name of Chris Webber, power forward for the Warriors, who was a dynamo at power forward. Earlier in that season (93-94), he was taken 2nd in the draft by the Orlando Magic (eventually traded to Golden State). First year wasn't bad, actually was voted Rookie of the Year. Though, he had clashes with his coach, Don Nelson. That summer, Mr. Webber ended up being dealt to the Washington Bullets for Tom Gugliotta (another promising power forward) and four draft picks. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&page=Nellie-100406 If teams get desperate enough, they will definitely trade a troubled player.
I hear you. But Chuck Hayes is starting at center for the kings, and so far the only center playing for them. It looks like Cousins is gone very soon. Like I mentioned in the other thread, even if there's a risk he might be a bust, if we have a chance to get him we should.
The difference here is you know Webber can produce, he just didn't fit in with Nelson. Is Cousins a dynamo at center? Does shooting 36% FG strike you as a dominant future HOF center? There's no guarantee this kid won't be Eddy Curry 2.0
They can refuse to play can't they? If they REALLY want to be traded, they can go lay down on the floor or start doing this during the game
Fallacy, I'm simply saying that high draft choices could be traded, as an example, coming from someone's quote. You must keep it in the context, of what I was responding to. Even more, so, I don't see anywhere in my response, where I said Cousins was as a good as Webber. Going with your statement, that would make Cousins even more tradeable (without giving up alot of pieces), if he isn't quite an all-star caliber player.
...I don't think that was calculated. That may go down as one of the worst trades in terms of talent. I understood the salary part, but good God, I cannot stand seeing him on the floor.
He's mad because wants to win badly. He's not as bad as you guys think he is. He just wants to be on a winning team.
While that is true. Cousins Value right now is at a High Another bad year of play or attitude could make the difference between getting a high return or having to send out value to get a team to take him.
That remains to be seen. Morey's smoke screens are well renowned. You never know if he really wanted Cousins as a major piece or just an asset to get to a higher player.
No player is a lock, but you have to gamble on Cousins. Don't forget that he is only 21 and he is one of the most talented big men in the NBA. Everybody is being hard on Cousins because of his attitude and I do understand that but he does play with two ball hogs in Tyreke and Marcus Thornton. Then it doesn't get much better when Jimmer comes into the game. It is difficult for a young big man to develop when he is never getting set up by a good pg. What would his fg% look like with Lowry setting him up?
The Rockets might have a shot at Deron Williams, but it'd be a long shot. There will be other teams with salary cap space, too... including, potentially, other teams that could sign both him and Dwight, and have a better roster. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that it's a very very very long shot. Moreover, Salmons could be amnestied at the exact necessary moment in order to make a move. Also, i think his contract is only guaranteed through 2013. Also, the Thunder rebuilt principally - entirely (with regards to their impactful players, certainly) - through the draft. They've been managed appropriately, and with regards to the cap, as well, but I don't see how their situation is remotely comparable at this point. I can't remember the last time the Rockets had a HUGE free agent signing, that worked out at least - Scottie Pippen certainly isn't a great example to point to. Signing two in one offseason seems extremely unlikely.
