Before the season started, I think I would've said yes to Lowry + pat for Cousins. But you are right, I would like to see what Lowry can do for another month under Mchale. But its still tempting. Looking at the Kings roster, they will most likely ask for Lowry and move Evans to SG....
They're overloaded on the wings and PF. What they don't have is a playmaking PG and a true center if they let go Cousins.
No one alone. The thing is, IMO, the key to trade for superstars, is too 1) Be a huge market team/ have already stars or 2) have the possibility to, if Superstars are not traded, have the cap to sign 2 stars in FA. I truly believe that we have a shot at Deron Williams, because I believe that he will not stay in NJ. But this is not the point because trades/signings for superstars are always long shots, the point is, avoid bad contracts at all costs even if you are rebuilding, just look at OKC and how they were built from the ground up from a contracts stand point. I am not willing to pay Salmons 7M for 3/4 years, and I would "overpay" to not have him. If there is no other option, I would still do it because I like Cousins upside, I like how he plays, and I believe he can be one of those, give him the ball in the post and watch him go to work kind of players, whether that is going 1-on-1, or demand double teams and pass the ball around to the open man, he is a willing passing big man.
There aren't very many great big men in recent history but if we consider very good big men then here's a couple for you: Zach Randolph shot 43.6% from the field in 74 games (34.4 minutes/game) in '05-'06 for Portland. Randolph also shot below 45% in two other seasons with the Blazers. Andrew Bynum shot a cool 40.6% from the field in his rookie year but to be fair he played limited minutes. I'm sure there are other examples that you could find if you looked. Edit: here's one more....Dirk shot 40.5% his rookie year.
3 way deal Rockets get: Dwight Howard Hedo Turkoglu Orlando gets: DeMarcus Cousins Kevin Martin Future Rockets picks Sacramento gets: Luis Scola Terrence Williams Future Rockets picks
AGREED! There are some stupid freakin' people on here willing to give up every asset on the roster + future assets for a guy with potential and a bad attitude but are probably the same people who criticize Terrence Williams for being an underachieving brat. SMH. It just makes this site less and less enjoyable to read.
Cousins would instantly become the most talented player on the team. The Rockets need building blocks and Cousins has the potential to become one. I would trade anybody besides Lowry to make that deal happen.
Terrence Williams is a dime a dozen, When you gamble, you always gamble on skilled bigman. Those are so rare in the NBA and can take you to the top. Yes Cousins has a attitude problem, but he's a hard worker and cares that he wins, this is the kinda attitude problem we can fix.
He has shown he can produce. He did well last season as well as a rookie. Good centers don't come knocking at your door and if you have a chance to get a potential star center, you go for it. If we can get him for lee/hill (maybe pat)/twill/ny pick then I would say go for it.
This guy is a double-double waiting to happen. Solid defender, excellent passer for a big man, mobile, and can get you a block and a steal per game. For once I hope Le$ and Morey live up to their statement about being predatory and try and exploit this situation. Smh...just smh
Any combination of assets that doesn't include Kyle or our 2012 draft pick. Absolutely. If the Rockets are allergic to rebuilding then they can't be picky when it comes to young talented bigs. They don't have the luxury of snubbing a player just because they have character issues. You just roll the dice and hope they grow out of it.
Ok great, let's trade Lowry so he can team up with chuck and form the leadership of their team. OTH, we can watch Cousins sit behind Dalembert and become a malcontent Does Cousins even have potential? I don't care if the team is bad, the pgs are bad, the coach is bad. Why should a legit top center prospect score only 36% a game? I think Thabeet has a higher % than that Also its not like Cousins was known as a hard worker, he reported as the fattest dude in history in draft camp, and during his rookie year he reportedly clashed with the training staff regarding his conditioning. If you can get him at the right price take, but we're not exactly talking about the next Shaq here
