This. Really if C-bud just starts being aggressive when his shot isn't falling he wouldn't have people calling him soft.
No. People have mostly made up their mind about Bud. Going to an all star game will not change most posters oppinion of him.
It has nothing to do with being demonstrative. Tim Duncan is probably one of the most competitive guys out there, yet he doesn't need to beat his chest, and let his game do the talking instead. Terrence Williams is extremely demonstrative, but it is more about showing boating than being competitive. Also there is a big difference between "fighting" and "playing hard". Bud plays hard, but he does not fight tooth and nail. There was a great example of competitive fire last night. At the end of a quarter ATL had a breakaway. Budinger was right there riding him(forgot who) the whole way, literally an inch behind the guy. Riding him all the way to a wide open uncontested layup. Almost the exact same thing happened with Lowry. Pargo had the breakaway layup, and Kyle caught up all the way from half court, came out of nowhere, and swatted that **** outta there. Much more than athleticism(Bud has plenty), that showed heart and a fighting spirit on the 3rd games in 3 nights. That is what you do to put the choke hold on an opponent. Now it is unfair to compare Bud to a Lowry who is elite in his competitiveness, but that is the difference. I rarely if ever have seen Lowry pound his chest, but he is one of the fierest competitors out there.
A 2:3 ratio of good games to bad, thus far. Still too early coachbadlee. We want him to do well, but he's just as consistent as TWill. Atleast play some danged defense, that's all I ask (atleast).. None of this Yummy-bear ish.
Ok fair enough, Lowry is certainly the most competitive guy on the team and I admire him for that. I just am not going to dislike other guys because they are not as competitive. Do I wish he were, well sure...lol....but not everyone is Michael Jordan.....or Kyle Lowry in competitiveness, doesn't mean that they still can't be solid players in the NBA. DD
he does need to be more aggressive and take the ball to the hoop and possibly go to the stripe. He shot 138 free throws in 78 games last year which is less than 2 a game. He has the athleticism, but he needs a more aggressive mentality
Budinger can become a solid player, but he is not one yet. I am harsh on him because he is a rocket and now a starter. His shot is wildly inconsistent and he is called soft because he plays with no aggression unless it is against poor defensive teams. If he was on another team, I couldn't care less about him. I do agree though that right now t-will should not start yet though. A big part of this is also from what POV we are judging him. If viewed as a 2nd rounder, I agree that he has exceeded all expectations as there are no expectations there; most don't pan out. If we are judging him as a starter I definitely consider him subpar.
Why do you keep spreading that lie? I already debunked that fairy tail. Chase had good games against the best defenders he faced last season.
Not to mention every player in the NBA takes advantage of matchups, that is what good players do. CBud is a good player, not great, not bad, just good. DD
He has to average 20 above points 6 rbs 5 assists to be even considered Maggette and JRich didn't even make it.... those were secondary scoring machines Andre Iguodala was all denfensive team...
So far 21 minutes in 4 games - small sample size but very telling that he had bad games 48% FG pct which is very good 33% 3 pt pct which below average 1.8 rbs bad for a starter 0.8 ass bad 8.3 pts below average....under 10 0.8 steals 0.2 blk Take a look at Martin's stat and you will see the difference Martin is a good to very good player, I wouldn't call him great.
Chase showed some aggression last season taking it to the basket and all. I haven't seen much of this so far this season.
I don't know if this has been posted yet, but maybe Chases slump problem was or is the result of him focusing more on defense. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but is closing out on the perimeter , staying with his man and keeping his hands up and moving well .
Yes, yes, yes! Because he had much competition for the starting 3 after our starter was traded? He plays D once in a blue moon and when he does he is glorified, FFS. Much improved? Improved from nada is still bleh. You know what I would want from my 4th scoring option? Defense full time. We already got 2 full time scorers who don't play defense, how about we get some actual defense. I remember a layup fast break that Cbud could have contested (last game) and he didn't even bother to jump or block it. Yes, yes, as you put it his defense has vastly improve.
Actually people are hard on him because they expect him to bring it day in day out. Going to the hole for 12+ pts 5 rbs 4 ass. frequently shooting 45% FG and hustling all over the place
He is a lightning rod for criticism - he is not top tier but he is good enough as starter, and the best we have at the moment at that position. DD
Nope, your bias is showing. He is not good enough to be a starter. There are a few bench players in this league I would strongly consider taking over Budinger from a winning point of view. He is the best and only option we have at the moment, and that is the only reason he is starting. And yes he does get more criticism than he deserves because in the end he is a late second round pick, and the expectations of him are too high (probably because of the hype that certain posters gave him..)
