Let's see here.... 30 NBA teams who suit up 12-13 guys.... 3 players of each team get DNPs so 90 players in the NBA are frustrated and pissed off, so there are 90 players in the NBA who dis-attatch themselves from their team? Fans obviously cannot put themselves and say, "I would do this," or "I would do that..." And of course if you don't get a chance to play, you would be frustrated. However, it's called being a ****ing professional. This isn't pee wee basketball where you get your dad to "talk to the coach" about playing time. Personally, I love T-Will and I was pised he didn't get in the game last night. And I didn't watch him on the bench last night so I can only take the original poster's word on this. You can claim this is a make or break season for him, and say it's up to McHale in determining that. But in reality, it's up to Terrence.
Terrence Williams is the best!!!! he is very talented player, give him a chance to play im sure he can prove that..
When he lets himself get into crybaby mode when he does get the call he's completely ineffective on the floor -- his mind is no longer in the game. He's still thinking about the fact he sat on the bench most of the game instead of seizing the opportunity to show what he has on the floor. /Talking about his attitude since joining the Rockets not just last nights game.
There are just certain types of personalities that over value themselves and in fact place themselves on a higher plane than other people due to self aggrandizement. He was probably a big fish in a small pond growing up and it has stuck with him that he will or must always be the biggest fish. Its clear that he does not realize that he is in the NBA when he steps out there and that the players out there are the biggest fish in the world and can swallow him whole. T-Will, quit listening to all of your B.S. "I'm the Greatest!" rap crap that spoils the brains of many young people in this world and realize that it's one step after the other to get to be great not boasting and bragging that makes you great.
I was at the game too although not necessarily watching TWill sitting on the bench. I was too involved watching the players on the bench. I will say this, I noticed Lowry at the end of the 1st qtr when he got one of his very few breaks up off the bench reminding the team they had a foul to give. Just a guy who is obviously EXTREMELY focused on winning. Back to TWill...I guess I tend to give every player the benefit of the doubt about these sorts of things. He did not play a minute but he is still being judged by many here by his facial expressions, posture, demeanor, etc? Perhaps its justified....I don't know, however I'll stick to judging him on his on-court play and what the coaching staff has to say.
T-Will, you are probably not reading this thread anymore, but please take the sports psychologist idea to heart. Think about it: some dude helps you sand off some rough edges and your career earnings will be like 10 times greater than if you stay on the current path. You can blame one coach, but not three coaches and counting. Right?
It just compounds we have not paid the Nets yet. We make the play-offs inspite of T-Will there goes our first round pick in a deep draft; really? WOW!
Morey's thought process regarding the TWil trade: -If you get Terrence and he becomes the 3/4 the player that he can become, he helps you make the playoffs and he is worth a #13-14 pick in any lottery. -If he fails, then you probably have much less chance to make playoffs and get to keep the late lottery pick. TWil's pouty lips = Mac's lazy eye in terms of bias and perception. Both have pretty poor body language.
I don't think us making the playoffs hinges on Williams contributing. I think a key to this is the game Chase had, it made it less likely that Williams would see any action. Show me a SF coming off the bench not named Williams and then I'll tell you there's a real problem. In the meantime, that doctor idea sounds pretty good. I've already seen Williams wallow in self-pity a few times, that's not healthy.
In the interest of being consistent, I do trust McHale and Sampson's judgment here. It's unfortunate that TWill hasn't responded well in the beginning of the season. I really wished when he was on the floor that he would take on Kyle's dirty, nasty, grind it out playing style and play hard. Haven't seen it yet. And apparently, neither has Kevin. So, it's just like Hasheem Thabeet. Thabeet was inactive. Kevin has seen that he can't contribute anything meaningful to this team. Same goes for TWill.....at least for now. Of course the reasons are opposite. Twill has the talent but he's not converting on the floor and he's not willing to do what is necessary to fit into the team concept. Hasheem seems to have a good attitude, but unfortuantely the talent is not there. In both cases it's sad.
It was a very interesting and telling contrast last night between Tabeet, who wasn't on active list and T-Will who apparently knew he wasn't going to play. Tabeeet was into the game, cheering his guys on and smiling and generally looked like he was glad to be there...T-Will was the exact opposite. I'll take the Tabeet attitude every day over T-Will. T-Will has had his chances, its time to get him out of here.
I have been down on Terrence's attitude from day 1, but Ive really just learned to ignore to Tweets, and his pouty attitude on the bench and just analyze him on the court to figure out what is going on with him. Firstly- He completely threw everything out the window that the coaching staff had been preaching to him during the Memphis game. He needs to be moving without the ball, and make cuts to be effective. Once he gets the ball, he needs to make the most effective, not the necessarily the flashiest pass. Plus he was giving up easy looks to make a flashy pass. Thats EXACTLY what McHale said in interviews that TWill cannot do anymore. Secondly- When Twill is in the game, the offense becomes stagnant. Budinger and Lee move very well without the ball and allow Lowry or Dragic to create while TWill literally just stands there waiting for the ball and ONCE AGAIN in Memphis bad TWill came out and blew plays to take a guy one on one to make a fancy cross court pass for a three. Honestly, for all of those people saying "when TWill gets his chance", or "If he just does this, or that" then he will be the player that he is on 2K12, yada yada... I have bad news for you. He is who he is. The player we saw in Memphis is who Terrence Williams is, and he's not going to change, and his attitude off of the court just re-affirms that. However, i dont need to see his off the court antics because his on the court play just Stinks most nights when he acts likes the entire offense should run through him taking his man one on one. Even Lebron doesnt do that anymore Terrence. Get with it or you will end up in China here pretty soon taking guys one on one over there.
Well put. He isn't the first nor will he be the last player to stunt a promising career with mental issues. It is pitiful because there is no excuse for not following coaches orders.
When he realizes there have been many players with star talent that have flamed out, maybe he can get his head right, harness that talent and use it to benefit the Rockets. He's still young and I'm hopeful that with proper management/coaching he can get there.
People on this board are acting like players complaining over playing time is not normal. It seems like everybody forgot that Calvin Murphyhad the same exact attitude at first when Del Harris benched him in favor of John Lucas. Unlike T-will though, Muprhy proved his worth on the basketball court when coming off the bench.
i think t-will still has a chance to prove himself. it's like his 13 points in orlando is already a distant memory on this board.
Well that has been the knock on Thabeet that he is just happy to be in the NBA. I can understand being disappointed and mad about not playing like Terrence. Obviously he needs to hide that though. Of course Terrence could easily avoid all of this by doing what he needs to do when he is out there on the floor.
Theres your problem right there. He's in his third year in the league and still doesn't get it. Its not the coach's or Terrence's fault, its just that he is who he is on the court. He must have the ball in his hands to be effective on offense. No team in the NBA is bad enough now to give him that right. Not even the Rockets. They are better off running the system they have now with the cast they have now if they want to win games. We are about a month away from the Rockets making a decision on investing a good deal of money into the future of Terrence by picking up his option. I highly doubt now that Morey and the Rockets front staff will make that kind of investment at this point. The smarter thing to do would be to let him become a free agent and try to sign him in the summer if he somehow turns a corner. Morey said multiple times that Terrence is someone they were looking at to take a giant leap forward, and it looks like he has regressed back into his old ways. Some people are who they are on and off the court. No coach, as likeable as they might be can change that.
