Manny? Gong? Was Steve Hillage in Gong? I can't remember... Not sure if I should be impressed or scared?

Going to put on Bad Finger's Straight Up and stabilize now.

Yes, Hillage was in Gong up through the "You" album before going solo. He re-joined them on the re-union album "2032" but only founder Daevid Allen plays guitar on "Zero to Infinity". And with me, you should always be impressed, never scared. :p ;)

Baby's on Fire, Miss Shapiro... Manzanera, Eno, and especially Simon Phillips on drums (though his path from here is alarming) Shine bright on a beautifully recorded live album.

I saw the Soft Machine the first time when they touring with Jimi Hendrix in February of 1968, at the Music Hall. The concerts (there were two that evening) included the Moving Sidewalks (later ZZ Top), and Neal Ford and the Fanatics, a long time Houston band. They were memorable concerts, to say the least. My ears were ringing for a week. Well worth it!
