Spoiler In all seriousness though, as a 13 year old with Crohn's/UC (doctors unsure) this gives me hope that I won't have to live with this for the rest of my life. Crohn's has significantly lowered my quality of life.
My sister has Crohn's and her condition is now in full remission. I'm not sure what medications they have her on but I did a research paper on Crohn's a few years ago when they were in the process of developing a new treatment for it and not much afterwards she called saying she didn't have it anymore. Good stuff.
My oldest son as has Crohn's. The medications he is on have had him pretty much in remission since he was first diagnosed (was six then, is 15 now). But this is still exciting because the medication they have him on for his Crohn's suppresses his immune system in general, so he misses a lot of school with all kinds of general sicknesses. If the Crohn's could be regulated without suppressing the immune system, that would be awesome.
Been dealing with what I thought was UC for almost a year until I ended up in the hospital 2 weeks ago and they have since confirmed it is actually Chron's. I'll be starting Remicade soon. Anyone have personal experience with this medication or know someone who does? These flare up suck so much. I never would have imagined that stomach cramps could keep someone out for days.
This. I hope we get something from this research. There are so many "cures" that worked in animals that have never been able to crossover and manifest as a cure to us. It's almost like crying wolf now...only it's trying to incite a response of hope and excitement, but it's always been a dead end.
My thought process is this: your body is probably reacting to something you're putting in it. So try these steps: go back to a basic farm to plate kind of diet. Cut the packaged preservative filled junk. and try intermittent fasting. give your gut some rest. this is one extreme here..this guy fasted for over 38 days and cured his issues. http://mech.fsv.cvut.cz/~smilauer/Crohn_Smilauer_fasting_en.pdf
I can never pinpoint an actual food that triggers it except for ibuprofen and any type nut. I've been dealing with a flare for the past 2 days nothing I'm not used to. Today was the worst of it with severe cramps coming and going all day and all of a sudden it just stops. This is really a frustrating thing to deal with.
Sucks man. I have a good friend and her brother has it. And she always doing things to raise money for a cure.
