It's actually pretty simple. Drexler, cheer. Cassell, cheer. Barkley, cheer. Pippen, boo. Francis, cheer. Yao, cheer. Or how about the other way around. T-Mac in: Toronto, boo. Orlando boo. Look, us Houston fans are not hard to please. We're loyal to a fault, we're more lenient than the big cities, certainly a far cry from Philly or Boston fans who can be downright nasty at times. And a lot of those people in the stands are season ticket owners. You know, as in people who watch ALL the games. Not like some of you messageboard heros who scour the box scores and believe the stories told by players and their reps. I trust those people in the stands much more than the general Clutchfans consensus when it comes to these things. If they want to boo him, there's a reason for it.
Of course there are reasons.....you don't have to cheer for that guy. Just go meh......and hope he carries on with his crap shooting instead motivating him to actually score a little
I specifically remember Rockets fans booing Steve Francis when he was in Orlando. I was sitting on like the fourth row. I know, cool story bro lol.
Was there some fine print on the Rockets ticket stub telling what fans can cheer for and what they can't? No.
I was there tonight. Every chance I had you're damn right I booed. I used to be a big fan until the later years he was with us. Some guy a couple rows back from me couldn't get off his tip though, "Great rebound tmac!" "pass tmac the ball!" "go tmac go!"...so annoying
Most of the ire is from fans reading between the lines and assuming they knew Tracy's health better than he did. Granted, he did seem to give up too easy. He's always been about himself, first and foremost. That's irritating, sure. But I don't boo every egotistical NBA player. I'd get tired of it really fast. *shrug*
There were several people booing him and he has earned all of em. He gets booed in three of the cities he has played so people making excuses for him, please just stop. You are making yourself look silly. This guy was a me-first drama queen who threw several members of the team and the management under the bus to make himself look good. He is going to be remembered as one of the biggest losers who has ever played in the NBA, and rightfully so.
I remember a few seasons ago we played at Orlando and MerGady exploded and we beat them soundly. After the game a reporter asked him about the boo's he was getting and he said he "enjoy's boo's" because it meant that the people cared and loved him when he was on their team, hence the boo's now. He added that it gives him fuel. I don't know about now. But he's constantly changing his words.
Yeah, I booed a ton at the game. But then I told everyone around me to quit booing because it's not nice to boo a lady. That really got the booing going even louder. Screw Stacy McLady.
Not really. Everyone in the future will look at him as a "What Could Have Been" player. Not a "loser" player.
I wouldn't have booed him if I was at the game, although I can't say I blame those that did. But I think after 2+ years there's hardly a need to be bitter. T-Mac's problem wasn't that he was injured, but rather he quit. Yao was injured a lot too. And I bet you even his most ardent detractors would likely give him an applause if he ever appeared at Toyota Center. If you just take away the games when he just entered and not bother to play, or that time when he went Operation Shutdown prior to the Vince trade, I bet most Rockets fans wouldn't hate him. Fans can put up with primadona attitude if they just play hard on the court. T-Mac did so for 3-4 years. Then he quit.
I agree. He quit too soon. But IMO even if he did not quit, I can't imagine him being the player again that he was. Morey still would have traded his ass, people still would have booed for other reasons.
It was annoying as *****, every time they started booing him i yelled out stfu to my self. Like is that anyway to treat a star player that gave 4 years of great memory's to the team and our life's? Who ever does that needs to grow the ***** up.
He quit in the Toronto game and later on when he knew he was about to be traded he announced a micro fracture surgery that our docs had not confirmed. F him. We paid him well so I don't feel bad
