This thread makes me sick. You want evidence well I have evidence. How many GM's have revolutionized basketball? Morey has took statistical analysis to the next level and all he has done is win since he's been GM.

Last year we had a winning record which means that we won more games then we lost and that's all the proof we need.

Morey is the Billy Bean of basketball

That's not really fair Morey didn't invent $ball for b-ball. I think he just made it more mainstream because he's a numbers guy but really guys like Hollinger were trotting out analytics before DM took his job. If you want a real revolutionary its got to be Les Alexander for being the first to hire and groom a numbers guy for the GM position. Previously you either have to be a former NBA player/coach, been an NBA lifer or you had some deep connections in the league to be a GM.

Regarding DM's analytics its hard to say how much they really do because DM and his staff are so secretive about their data. They definitely use in their drafting but their drafts aren't 100% reliable, they have major hits but also have a few misses (missing out on Batum whom we already drafted comes to mind) so if you just base it on results, its hard to differentiate DM's analytics driven drafting from other elite but more normal FOs like the Spurs, although at this point I think they have analytics of their own.

I think one other major benefit analytics could bring to the team is when it comes coaching decisions, ala Dallas last year. Unfortunately we haveen't really been benefitting from it because RA and his staff don't like $ball, but maybe this year Mchale will be more open to it.

I am still searching for evidence. Flexibility to make moves is not a positive if Morey has a tough time at making moves.

We got K low for alston, Scola for a bag of peanuts and the 3rd best 2 guard in the NBA for Landry and Tmac.

The rockets were over 500 last season and were right around the corner from winning a championship

Morey has done his job. There are ups and downs and wins and losses in this business. What I think is the real problem is the coaching changes we have had. I respect McHale but JVG and Rick Adelman are as good as it gets. When Les decided to get rid of those guys our basketball progression as a team will suffer.

    Pros:
He's done more with late picks than most.
    Doesn't overspend for a player

    Cons:
Skips 2nd round Cs when we have a need. It's a 2nd round player, why not take a flyer?

Les needs his own review and his won't be so glowing.

We sound like the Astros and Texans and will use any sliver of evidence to justify Morey's greatness. We've won 1 playoff series since the existence of the moneyball program. I will give him credit for pulling off some steals, however he has failed to land anything major to put Htown back on the map.

It's frustrating to watch the Rockets trot out a lineup with Chase starting at the 3 spot (it's clear he hasn't worked on any part of his game) and putting him Scola and Jordan in the starting lineup is defensive nightmare.

Morey's history is this: He simply has not hit the big one.

He makes more doubles out of singles than most.
He makes more non routine double outs than most.

    YET
He has not hit the 3-2 pitch for a home run in the bottom of the 9th.
He has not reached over the wall and robbed someone of the HomeRun.

Simple English: He has not landed a superstar.
All the superstars he has had were left to him.
They may have been broken or tarnished but . . . . they are still the best
players he has had on this team.

That said. DStern did rob him on one this season.
but like while the roughing the passes was crap on watt . . .at the end of the day
the game was still lost. . . .

    Git 'er Down Morey!

That was a huge trade that was blocked. I still expect Scola and Martin to be traded.

the 3rd best 2 guard in the NBA??? KMART??? Hahahahahaha… the 3rd best 2 guard in the nba can actually play some defense...wow… talk about some homers… get freaking real… all our "assets" NO ONE WANTS.. Thabust, Twill, Flynn… what he got us is a bunch of scrubs that CAN'T play any defense and the only reason we won ;last year is because we had Adleman.. and now he's up in minnesota almost beating the best team in the NBA with the t-wolves…

But hey "in Morey we Trust"...

d stern robbed him because he got a WAY better deal from the Clippers… no one wants Dragic, a aging Scola and Martin WHO CANT PLAY DEFENSE..

The best move morey could ever make is TANK and get high draft picks and a lot of him..

I don't know, why would Cuban want replace his team's title winning defensive anchor in Tyson Chandler for Brendan Haywood instead?

The hypothetical should include IF HE HAD A GM JOB OPENING and Morey is on the market. It is NOT to imply that Cuban would REPLACE who he ALREADY has.
