If Parsons can hit that 3 with regularity we have ourselves our future SF. I love how aggressive he is when he goes for boards.
We're in trouble if Lee is our regular starting 3. Unless we're playing small ball, but not for the whole game.
I went with Parsons, and let me explain why. I don't like the idea of Budinger and Parsons off the bench any more than I do Martin and Budinger. Ultimately, I see Williams taking the spot down the line, or Lee getting it with Williams being the first off the bench, but for now I think Parsons is the best fit. With the starters, Parsons would not be asked to do any more than what he brings to the table: Hustle, ability to knock down open shots, willingness to take it to the basket when the lane is open, and actually attempt to play defense. With Martin at the 2, that's all we really need at the 3. This would leave Lee to come in at either the 2 or 3 off the bench as needed by the matchup, Budinger to come in and play spot minutes as an energy/quick offense type guy (also the role he's best suited for), and Williams again where the matchup fits. Basically, I think playing with the 1s would do three things: 1. Allow him to play to his strengths, and not have much pressure on him to score all the time. 2. It ensures that our best perimeter defender (Lee) will be able to come in and play with Martin as well as cover for Budinger when he comes in off the bench. He'd be coming off the bench, but probably playing starter's minutes. and 3. It tells the rest of the team that contracts/past performances/reputation aside, if you work your ass off in practice and on the court, you will be rewarded. If nothing else, I think it'd be worth a shot to experiment and see how he plays with that group.
Courtney Lee at the three is laughable, Lee is not an option as a starting 3. The guy is a questionable 6'5 with a short wingspan. I prefer starting Parsons at three, instead of Lee.
Nice analysis but are you curious as to why Twill only received 4-5 minutes through the first 3 quarters?
After 100 votes DD ( DaDakota) has more votes than Lee for starting small forward, even though he is more suited to the 4 spot.
I'd take T-will starting with C-Lee coming in at 6min into the game and from there keep the 3 spot rotating with Parsons+C-bud, little bit of Morris. Rockets just don't have the 3. I like T-will's potential, but he has a lot to learn before being a solid starter.
Hmmm does that say something about Clutch Fans? A million Jeremy Lin threads and now Parsons threads are on fire. Hmmmm something seems fishy.
I would like to see Parsons start because we need someone that can stretch the floor from the small forward position. Bud is slumping, T-will is too inconsistent, Morris is not very good defensively (so far this season). Parson has the size and range to fill the small forward spot on this team
I think that T-Will has been over thinking his game, trying to be what he is not instead of what he is. Mate just take the ball to the rack, and shoot it when you got it. The assist will come. Right now he is looking more to pass everytime he has the ball. Morris hasn't seen enough time to be evaluated. Bud has been very inconsistent. Lee is great, but undersized at the 3. Parsons has been all energy and hustle. We all know DD is good in the post.
Parsons is a better shooter than Bud. He's substantially bigger and can shoot over the top and from deeper range with greater accuracy. Don't know how good or bad a shooter Morris is yet. But Parsons is definitely better than Chase.
