I think you're being too tough on him. What he did sounds more like someone having enthusiasm for his teammate's potential success. Your assessment sounds too harsh.

It was a stupid play. If TWill had turned and faced the bucket instead of looking towards the crowd and playing airplane, he would have been in perfect position to rebound in the air and cram it down just the way a true superstar does.

He is going to screw over Lowry big time if he starts.

Honestly there are a few point of views that can be taken from this and its hard to pass judgement bc we don't know the facts.

It should be undeniable that T-will technically did make the smart basketball play. It was a fantastic pass to set up an open jumper, however

    1) He was not in position against a bigger man to get the rebound
    2) You cannot expect him to stop on a dime from going in mid air after making a difficult pass and get in position, which is hard enough to do when you are out of position esp. against a bigger man, for a rebound that may or may not come to him, in the time that it took CLee to catch and shoot the ball
    3) The pressing threat would have been transition defense seeing as if CLee missed the shot the probability for a long rebound is higher because it was shot from a longer distance.

So in my opinion he made the right play. Now did he make the right play on purpose or not is another story.

    1) If he knew to get back on defense and was just showboating his good pass then thats fine because at the end of the day he is still where he needs to be and he knows it
    2) If he was showboating and didn't really care to get back on defense thats another story, that is a mark of his character and the fact that he doesn't have the mentality to be a winner yet. These are not marks of great players, just great talent.

Thus, I can't really pass judgement based on the facts alone, all I know is technically he made the right play and I won't fault him for that, we just don't know if he meant to do it

Let him play good solid team basketball for about half a season and then he will get some respect.

What does any of this (not picking on you in particular) have to do with basketball? I repped DaDakota the day he had those squares removed. For his apology. That's probably the only time you'll hear me say something about "rep" in a post, aside from just discussing the system, as I generally keep that stuff between me and whoever I'm "patting on the back" (something DD might consider trying, btw) Is it possible to have any discussion here about certain players without someone's suspected agenda, real or imagined, being brought up time and time again? It gets seriously old, and has nothing to do with basketball, and everything to do with personalities. I wish everyone involved would chill out, including DaDakota. The freakin' season has started! Trust me, DD will have plenty to say that will get people worked up during the course of 66 games, and perhaps the playoffs, that will make this kerfluffle look miniscule. DD and I have gone at each other many times, but about basketball. This has gotten way too personal, to the point that threads are being started about him in various forums. Not Williams, DD. How crazy is that? If people don't agree with his opinions, say so, I certainly do, but make it about the basketball, not DaDakota. And DaDakota might consider posting less about himself (responding to posts aimed at him, not basketball). Does any of that make sense? Rant over. Return to your regularly scheduled broadcast.

As for the topic, Williams keeps driving me crazy, but he did look better last game than the game before. A trend? Maybe, maybe no... we'll see. The dude is a project. He might have the light bulb go off in his head and amount to something, but based on what I've seen since he joined the club, including the very tiny sample this season, that has yet to occur. I'm still waiting. However, his defense has improved. Now, if only he would act like he has a clue about the offense. Nothing would please me more than to see Williams operate within the offense, nothing except maybe figuring out what McHell's offense is.

T-Will is very talented player. He is a great passer but he is very careless with the basketball in my opinion. He is guilty of passing up a lot of shots too.
But I like him. He has the talent to make it to a big time contributor to our team.
    Go Rockets..
