I think more than his age is the compacted schedule. McHale does not want him getting 30 minutes a game if he can help it. Players in general across the league are going to see their minutes drop (not go up) out of neccesity in an attempt to save their legs.
The top five highest paid players on the Rockets this year are Code: Samuel Dalembert $13.4 million Kevin Martin $11.5 million Louis Scola $ 8.6 million Kyle Lowry $ 5.8 million Hasheem Thabeet $ 5.1 million Does anyone really have any doubt that Dalembert will replace Hill as the starting center in the very near future? It is all but done. By the end of January at the latest.
Here are the Rocket's 2012 salaries as reported by ESPN: http://espn.go.com/nba/team/roster/_/name/hou/houston-rockets
I think they're off. BimaThug's article says this: The Contract If reports are correct, the deal will pay Dalembert $7 million this season (a reasonable amount, given the market rate for centers lately) and $6.7 million in 2012-13. The second year, however, will only be partially guaranteed for about $1.5 million if the Rockets waive Dalembert by a certain date (presumably some time in July 2012). http://rockets.clutchfans.net/2207/samuel-dalemberts-contract-a-brief-analysis/
Are you sure that 13 mil contract is this year alone or his whole contract? I thought he was getting 7 this year and 6.7 next? He is not our highest played player.
Yeah I think ESPN is way off. The Rockets did not have that much space under the cap and it was reported by multiple sources that it was around 7 mil the 1st year (not exact amount).
I was against Sammy because I thought we were going to give him a huge contract that could limit us in the future, but after I saw the contract, I was for it because we can still make moves for the 2012 season. His contract in today's NBA is a total bargain if Chandler makes 15+ million per year. I'm glad Dallas or Miami didn't snatch him up.
Not even 7 million, because its not a full 82 games schedule. He's guaranteed less than 8 million total. But if he sustains this level of play, its a no-brainer that we keep him next year.
I like how this kid thinks that a team with multiple rings is considered "not top tier" compared to a buncha nobodies who have won 0 rings combined (OKC, CHI, MEM??, etc) Get a clue.
I think he IS that much better. He thoroughly outplayed Hill towards the end of last season. I mean, just look at the minutes each was playing.
Never considered Memphis a contender........ If you have the MVP (Rose) or near MVP (Durant) I think that's a statement there, you have a pretty darn good team in contention. I said Spurs were contenders years ago.....I stressed past tense... about 5 years ago and Duncan started declining at that time and has done so ever since....... I gave them credit for maximizing their effort in the regular season so they could fizzle out in the playoffs Get your facts right and read before you type.
Duncan could hardly walk. Manu is old. They are done. SA is a .500 team. Guess what, they will rebuild faster than us too as well. You know why? Because once Duncan is gone both Manu and Parker will leave and they will be in the lottery while we putz along as an also ran.
