He got some serious burn for a second round pick on such a deep team. He actually looked decent out there especially on D. Didn't look lost at all. Maybe its too early to say, but I think he's going be Cbud without the weak mind and weak D.
I was surprised at first, but McHale did praise him about knowing the system already...i figured he was exaggerating, but i guess it's true. He was definitely hustling on D.
Ill tell you one thing...he has no business playing power forward and for that reason alone I dont want him on the floor. I am so damn tired of seeing Scola at C and 4 guards on the floor, trying to decide if McHale knows what he is doing or if he calls peoples names to come in the game without thinking about match ups.
And not a SF. And a rebounder. And the list of differences is exhaustive - in fact the list of similarities seems to finish at "they're both white"
He's definitely not a 4. He's a 3 all the way. I was just afraid that he was going to get lit up by NBA 3's but he looked okay tonight.
He's definitely a small forward. There was not one time that he posted up. Most of the time he was parked at the corner waiting for a kickout. Edit: To add, he was a very good rebounder in college.
He was the best defender at SF we had on the floor tonight. And that includes TWill.....and CBud. He is very intelligent and uses his size very well at the SF spot. I liked it.
I agree he's a 3 ..... But dude is beefier than I thought.... I don't think it would kill us during certain matchups for him to slip to the 4 for short stretches. I am still in shock that I saw him come off the bench b4 Marc Mo
Yeah I see no similarities between him and Budinger either, except for the white thing of course. Parsons seems to be bigger, less athletic, a worse shooter, and a smarter player than Budinger. If he plays any defense that'll be more than Chase plays, but all in all they are totally different players. The problem with Chase is that he's really athletic but all-or-nothing on offense and nothing-or-nothing on defense. He can be Kevin Martin-like when his shot is falling and he's making those backdoor cuts to get open. I guess he's nice in that sense, because if he's not doing good one particular night (like tonight), we just don't play him the entire second half. The problem with Parsons is that he does no single thing particularly well. People always say that the NBA is the place where you can carve niche for yourself if you do one thing really well. Kyle Korver shoots threes. Bruce Bowen injures fools. Eddy Curry eats. Can Chandler Parsons (God what a white name) fit into the NBA when none of his skills are particularly NBA-worthy? Time will tell; he definitely has good court awareness and above-average athleticism for the position he'll be playing, but I don't know if his lack of significant weaknesses will be able to offset the equal absence of any particular talent that will "define" him per se. Right now I'm afraid I just don't see it. Budinger for all his warts still has more to contribute to this team than Parsons does. When he's out there you just try to hide the warts and exploit his offensive ability.
all i know is that he's a 3-4 he can match up with the heavy 3s or small 4. lamar odom? matt bonner included tonight.
I could play D against Bonner and would look good. Bonner is terrible. I don't understand why Pop plays him so much. Bonner literally kills the momentum every time he's on the floor.
I think once he improves his athleticism, overall game and becomes more comfortable in the nba he will be a very good role player. A good 6th man possibly.
