What about the little lob that he stood flat-footed and watch it graze off the top of his head before he shouted, "Oh sh..!"? Poor fella. I'm beginning to think he's got some sort of physical deformity that makes him look like his spine is all fused together with no flex and he's got fire ants in his tennies and a wedgie in his jock. I actually feel sorry for the guy.
Yeah, someone asked in the game thread about his running style. Weren't you the one who said he runs like he got a corn cob stuck up his ass?
One weird thing I noticed about Thabeet is how he sets his picks. Is it just me or does he roll to the basket too early?
Like I said, I feel sorry for him. He gets 4 minutes of garbage time in a blowout. I'd almost bet money he's inactive tomorrow night against Memphis. He can't play, man. Everybody needs to get over it. He's an expiring contract that we could possibly use in a salary matching deal. Other than that, he won't be back next season and probably won't make it through this season. I fully expect him to be waived after the trade deadline, if he is not actually traded by the trade deadline. He's a non-factor. He can't play. We oughta quit talking about the dude. He's not going to make it. The handwriting is on the wall. He got a few millions. He should be happy irregardless if he takes care of his dough. And he can always make a living as a circus attraction. He'll always be able to get a job somewheres. And he's a nice fella too. But he ain't no basketball player. He's a 7'3" stiff that shuffles around the basketball court like a 60 year old Sam Bowie shuffles around his house. Dude can't play. That's all, folks. He may get spot minutes in garbage time when we have back to back to back to backs, simply to help us save our other player's legs. Oh, did I say, other than that, he's an expiring contract that we can use to take on salary in a trade if we so choose to do so. He simply can't play this game.
I thought you were one of the more observative Clutchfans. Not in this case. I saw him miss a couple of blocks, everything else was gravy.
I said he reminds me of a giraffe meandering around and looking for a leaf to eat sitting on top of one of the shorter players heads as he is makes his way back up the court. Yeah, he looks like he's got a corncob problem. Can't figure it out.
I was surprised how smooth his roll to the basket was. He has a quick first step or you are right and he starts early to make up for being slow. The dump off seemed to be available on a couple plays where the guard kept the ball. This is going to be a fun season with all these potenial stars.
He is getting there, a project for sure, but McHale said he has been practicing well and has earned some time. Good for him.....Thabeet can play, he can be something like a Dalembert or Hibbert with some work, he just needs time on the court. Tonight was a nice first step. Ironically, he played more minutes tonight, than he did all last year.....for us. DD
Really?! I highly doubt that. I'm not a betting man but if I was, I'd bet, of the two, Hill is here next year and Thabeet is not.
I remember we had this tall gangly kid in high school. We needed a big man, didn't have a lot of height on our squad. But this dude was a total marshmallow. He'd never been taught any type of aggression, didn't know what the word aggressive was. I got a couple of my buddies together before practice and we decided we'd try to figure out how to make him mad because we'd never seen him get mad. Two of us just kept blasting him all practice, cranking him with elbows, driving the lane and intentionally plowing right into him with knees and elbows. My other friend, kept getting in his ear and telling him what a loser he was. The guy went through 2 hours of practice, kept getting up off the floor, he was obviously frustrated, but he didn't respond. Finally, towards the end of practice, he was looking up to rebound and my friend cranked him right in the back and knocked him on his face. Dude gets up swinging like a little girl, blood running down his chin from his mouth cracking on the hardwood. Coach whistled down everybody, made us run some lines and sent us to the showers. After practice, I waited for this dude outside the lockers and started talking to him, told him we were trying to make him mad to motivate him to play that way. He looked at me like I was some sort of talking donkey or something. He never got it. He was probably 6'6", big by the standards of our private school, would have been one of the tallest boys in the league we were playing in and could have been a nice defensive presence for us. Sadly, he rode the bench that whole season then decided basketball really wasn't his thing and never came back to the team again. He played in one game, one blowout game. That was it. So frustrating to a high school team. Chuck Pickering was his name. Hasheem Thabeet is a taller darker-skinned Chuck Pickering. Nice guy. Can't move him emotionally except to go to the extreme and then it is counterproductive. I feel sorry for him. He should have been 5'6" and then nobody would care.
You are letting your experience at a tiny private school cloud your thinking, Thabeet was pretty danged good at a major university and also decent when he got playing time as a rookie. You are simply not thinking clearly.....he is far from finished but he is not the same guy that you guys hammered. DD
I was most impressed at the him catching those passes and flushing them down. After all, he is known to have bad hands.
I think Thabeet can be a decent backup C in this league. 15 minutes a game. He has no chance in hell at ever reaching Roy Hibbert's potential. A guy that has legitimate touch and skill around the rim. A guy that is an intelligent highpost passer. Watching Dalembert these last few games, I would be astonished If Thabeet could get anywhere close to that as well.
