there are 500 movies you'd rather watch right now than the dark knight? i don't think i've even seen 500 movies in my lifetime
Wow do I really need to argue with iDIOT fanboys again. There are plenty of directors out there that can combine a good actions to go with their story telling. As much as a love Nolan any fanboys who think he's good with the action sequences doesn't know ****. Either he doesn't know how to shoot an action sequence or his intention to make it real and boring. Even when trying to make it real it look cheesy as hell. A good or great actions to go with an already good movie doesn't hurt.
Here for those he think I don't know what I'm talking about. <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/28792404?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0" width="400" height="265" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/28792404">In the Cut, Part I: Shots in the Dark (Knight)</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user2222857">Jim Emerson</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>
Eh - you could do the same to the the attack on the Death Star sequence in the original Star Wars. But it's considered one of the greatest movies ever.
Yeah, that guy has been b****ing about the Dark Knight since it came out. Two excellent breakdowns of his breakdown: http://gammasquad.uproxx.com/2011/09/yeah-about-that-video-trashing-the-dark-knights-editing http://josephkahn.blogspot.com/2011/09/analyzing-action.html
It doesn't take a film critics to understand how boring and badly editing of Nolan's action sequences. He a story teller director first and action isn't his specialty. Just like Michael Bay can blow up stuff nicely but can't direct a damn story. Either likes shooting and cutting the actions this way but I doubt it. There are pretty rare directors out there that can handle both masterfully.
but Michael Bay's action sequences with all the transformer movies were terrible, you really couldn't understand any of it. Basically the tekst at the beginning of the video you posted reflects what I hate about the action in Michael Bay movies (we do not even have to discuss his non-exsisting story telling skills)
Then The Island is the only good movie Bay has ever directed (imbd only says he produced it). I thought for sure he also directed Face Off... but I think it was John Woo or something. The Asian version of Michael Bay. Both equally as suxorz.
This is the best Michael Bay movie not even directed by Michael Bay but the direction is very similar to any Michael bay movies... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mzg3ND-ITjU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
John Woo did Face Off, but you must not have seen any of his Chinese films. Red Cliff was pretty bad ass and Hard Boiled, along with Face Off, is another top notch action film. Are you gonna confuse these films with having great stories, no (Red Cliff aside). But who cares. Honestly don't get the criticism of Bay's action style. I've never had a problem following it. I've probably said it before if only because I've heard this criticism before. If there's one thing he knows how to do it's make action scenes. Nolan though is a breath of fresh air since he doesn't rely on cgi too much. I actually didn't think the snow scene in Inception was all that bad, and I have no complaints about his Batmans...it easily trumps any of the action scenes from the Burton and Schumacher films.
Can't argue with that. Bayformers movies are freaking terrible. The actions are a mess. But the action cut scenes have more punch to it than any of Nolan's film.
