i see what you did there... i personally don't believe he is a racist. if you've ever heard is interviews or speeches or read one of his books you'll notice the newsletter sounds like it was written by a couple of journalism 101 college drop outs. i was speaking to his steadfastness on economic and foreign policy which is in line with many of the founding fathers such as adams, jefferson, madison, washington, and others. jefferson and washington in particular were keen on avoiding political alliances but encouraging free trade with everyone.
I'd observe that quite a few media figures and myself observe that Paul is pretty bad at delivering speeches. That, however, is part of his charm. The quirky doctor whom has never been corrupted by Washington ( or influenced it at all in thirty years, but let's forget that) and so will fix things when he gets into power. But once again, if Paul didn't write them, then who did, and why didn't he deny that he wrote them 15 years ago? And I have zero interest in going back to the American of over 200 years ago. Especially since it's well known that they were hardly a monolithic entity, especially the father I respect the most by far, Hamilton.
I just wish Obama took the same positions on war policy, drug policy, and civil liberty as RP. Instead, Obama's policies, on far too many issues, mirror GOP policy to the letter. It's both disturbing and demoralizing.
Agreed. Wanting to fund government by raising taxes on the wealthy is exactly the same as wanting to cut services. Wanting national health care guarantees is the same as not wanting them. Wanting labor unions to have more power is exactly the same viewpoint as wanting them to have less power. Wanting to regulate energy policy in favor of the environment is the same as not wanting to do so. That's why Republicans and Democrats agree on everything and get along so well passing legislation.
I've said this before, and I'll probably say it again in the future. You should get involved in the Democratic Party. They could use you. They are both political parties. In that sense, they are the same. Aside from that, they are wildly different in terms of philosophy. It is why I'm a Democrat.
Don't want to leave you hanging like that. The govt is too big already, so to avoid new taxes we need to cut spending. The national healthcare is good, but hopefully my taxes will not get raised when it's implemented. No problem with labor unions, as long as they don't seek bailouts from the taxpayers i.e USPS. We should be allowed to drill our way out from this recession following Canadas example. The democrats and republicans will work together to pass any bill for the speacial interest groups but put on a show and drag it out when it affects the middle class.

If Democrats cared about labor, they would oppose free trade and oppose open immigration, both of which they support, because it benefits big business.
You say this all the time. It is the easiest thing in the world to say oh they're all corporatist **********s. That being basically true, to fail to acknowledge the extreme differences that remain is as lazy as it is naive. Without radically altering our entire campaign finance system, our two-party monopoly and possibly our electoral system as well, the ways in which our major parties are both in the thrall of big money are a given. But they stand for and fight for not just different but most of the time strictly opposite things. To lump them in together is to abdicate all participation in our democratic republic and cede major decisions with real world impact on so many people to the ones that aren't so above it all that they eschew political involvement, even if that involvement only extends to voting.
