What about those of us that think McHale may not be worth it? I don't blindly believe in a coach with a significantly losing record.....this here is like Missouri....SHOW ME....baby ! DD
Maybe I missed this. How many players suited up? Allowed is 15 - as usual? Was there "room" on the roster for HT to suit up and be available to play?
Thabeet sucks. It's not that big of a deal. Arguing over guys who can't play more than 5 to 10 minutes due to conditioning (as stated by the GM and coach) is pretty pointless. I mean how freaking sad is it that a professional athlete can't play more than 10 minutes due to conditioning.
Not just McHale. Memphis gave up on him(save the "They said they think this may come back to haunt them!"), Rick "I don't know what I'm suppose to do with him" Adelman, and maybe now McHale. You can have a max of 15 guys on your roster overall. Only 12 active on gameday(I swear I read 13 now with the new CBA but maybe not).
Hibbert is a good example of what Thabeet could be with patience, Mark Eaton too....you just have to teach the guy and let him grow from his mistakes..... DD
Hibbert ain't any good either. Hayes punks him every time they play. If that is Thabeet's upside, which he is most likely not going to become, then what possibly is his downside?? At some point I think we have to come to the realization of what Thabeet is. He is 7'3". That's it. He is....the black Chuck Nevitt, just a big praying mantis of arms and legs out there. Dude can't hardly run. He's just a tall stick out there that occasionally gets in the way. 6 fouls???? When you gonna get him 6 fouls? The first part of the 2nd quarter and put the opponent in the bonus with 8 minutes left in the quarter and put your team under the gun defensively for the rest of the quarter. The 4th quarter, which he is most likely going to be committing off the ball fouls on Dwight since Dwight wasn't going to get the ball, or he was going to be committing And 1 fouls and NBA guards drove and dunked on him???? There wasn't even any place to use his 6 fouls!!!! Memphis gave up on him. We took a chance on him. CD worked with him this summer. CD said he needed to put in a lot of work. There was no interest generated. Adelman couldn't use him. He went to the D-league and was average at best down there. McHale has him glued to the bench. What is it going to take to realize he can't play? Do we have to let him hang ten losses on us before we realize it?? I don't think he needs game experience. He had the summer. He had training camp. He had preseason games. He had last season. He had the dleague. Dude is a bust. He can't play. It's over. We're only keeping him around as an expiring for a possible trade. That's the only reason why we ain't cut his ... Dude cannot play.
That is because Chuck is a truly special one on one defender. Hibbert is a VERY solid C, and a stud fantasy C I might add. He can rebound and block shots. He is an extremely underrated passer on the perimeter, and his post game is so much better than Thabeet's will ever be.
Really DD? Are you even trying anymore? <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5czw6Xq8sDc?version=3&&start=25;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5czw6Xq8sDc?version=3&&start=25;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
I would like to take this Thabeet discussion in another direction. I can see how people would see Thabeet as a bust or trash. I understand where everyone is coming from with that. After all, he wasn't worth a #2 pick. I know that. I have admitted this in the past. I'd say he was probably a mid-teen to twenty pick. All that i have been trying to say this whole time is that there is a shortage of centers with his ability at his height. If it weren't for his conditioning, he would have been in the line-up. He did well enough in the preseason to warrant playing time. He averaged 13 mins, 3pts, 3rbds, 1.5blks, 1assist, 2fouls.
Now that's just delusional. Thabeet has not given one iota of a hint that he could become a Roy Hibbert down the line. The reason I came to this thread (I haven't and won't read through it) is because suddenly it came to my mind that we already have Thabeet's upside on our roster (and this is something that probably has been said around here) and that guy is Sammy Dalembert. Because of that I put zero expectations on Thabeet atm though I wouldn't mind keeping him around beyond this season -pay-cut included, of course-.
