Theres been a lot of talk about how bad the new is (too much isolation, not enough movement) versus the old (high post facilitation, better spacing) and I'd love to see some examples on tape. Does anyone have any videos that show classic examples of Adelman's offense at its finest versus our new, inferior style of play? Thanks in advance.

Of course not. It's only been one game. The only difference I saw was a Kevin Martin who was traded away and then brought back with hurt feelings as opposed to a focused scoring machine.

I think Patrick Patterson will be the key to our corner offense this year... he's the only big that can make the right decisions and the pass, excluding Scola who is usually the receiver rather than the high post. Jordan can't do it yet and I don't think Dalembert could either. Plus it would detract from their natural talent to get rebounds. Expect some corner offense sets when PatPat plays
We will run the plays that best fit our players skill. I like how people are so quick to jump on Mchale as if he doesn't know how to run a motion offense.
Ikr, I love the ball movement. That and the corner offense are the key to this team. I belive we were 4th in the NBA in assists? With a legit big and developing talent, this team can go far once coaches and players are on the same page. Next season will be pretty exciting with Dmo coming as well. Twin Towers 2.0 with him and dally.
So in most of these clips we dump the ball into the high post and then initiate some off the ball movement between the entry passer and the wing man. Two questions: How much of the plays are scripted versus organically emerging as a result of the early sequence (high post - entry pass - down screen - wing cuts to the elbow etc)? Also, how would this look different if we had a legit low post presence? Would we see more slow it down and dump in the post? More pick n rolls?
We played against d12. Our offense isn't going to look good. Adelmans offense helps players overachieve against good talent. We just need great talent in the new system.
That corner offense is beautiful to watch. The ball moves around and pretty much everyone gets to touch the ball and has the opportunity to score. With that said, we may not have the personnel to execute it, especially with our current bigs. Yao is gone, Miller is gone, and so is our beloved Chuck. Adelman had one of those guys in the lineup for the offense to run smoothly. Patterson could initiate it and possibly Scola or Morris. But it's hard to imagine Dalembert, Hill or Thabeet in the high post executing the offensive sets. Perhaps maybe it's why McHale tweaked the offense and focuses more on the low post.
The passing from strong to weak side and the 3 point shot with a screen at the top of the key are two really distinct plays that I remember..thanks for the vid! Alot of the center making sharp passes into a cutting player for the easy lay-in, too.
I remember reading that Kevin Martin played at his best under Adelman. Is this a sign of things to come? I'm really bummed about his no-show last game because he's on my fantasy team. He was pretty terrible last game. Could it be because he isn't familiar with the offense?
Funny enough, Adelman's first game as the Rockets head coach featured a lot of isolation and post play. Yao and T-Mac dominated the ball and combined for 55 of the Rockets 93 points. Funny how an offense can look different once you've coached the team for longer than one game.
The lack of training camp will be very difficult to overcome, more so than a lack of games. Let's hope they try to keep the offense as similar as possible to Adel-ball. That is the whole point of Finch being on the staff IMO.

Adelman's offense revolves around Kevin Love, who has a better all-around game than Yao. I couldn't believe he drew so many fouls, if he had some accuracy on his shots, he would of been scoring in the 40s. Kevin Martin would be a perfect fit for the TWolves because they lack a sharpshooter, I know McHale would be salivating if he had Love.
