Is that a bad thing? I picked it up for 5 bucks just now. I also got: vesperia, reach, and demons souls because I have heard so many great things about it.
get the anniversary addition, its the best IMO if you've been a halo fan. Or you may like reach. depends.
I was a huge Fable 1 fan...but Fable 2 and 3 were just hand-holding catered and dumb-downed to casual gamers at it's worst with the stupid breadcrumb trail thing which destroys any sense of adventure (sure you can turn it off but the game's linearity seems based around it) and the story and environments just weren't as interesting. That's me though.
I would really, really recommend BASTION. The best music in any game this year, great art direction, fun, polished gameplay. It really reminds me of Portal 1 in that it's got an amazing concept (a narrator that reacts to what you are doing, how well you are playing, etc), crazy amounts of polish and playtesting, incredible atmosphere, and it's short in a good way; it doesn't overstay its welcome or feel repetitive at any point. It's on PC as well, but as far as I know, there is no PS3 version planned.
Halo (of course) Gears of War (have not played 3 yet) My son was crazy about 99 Nights Dead Rising (I liked 2 better than 1, although both were a ton of fun) Mass Effect 1 was awesome, one of those games that made me immediately want to re-play it as soon as I finished it, played all the way through a couple times, never managed to get far into ME2 yet
Dark Souls is the sequel to Demon's Souls, and is pretty much an improvement in every way. But Demon's Souls is certainly still good. Be sure to consult the wiki frequently, they pretty much expect you to go to the community for help since it's so difficult. Plus, not even sure if the Demon's Souls servers are up anymore. Hmm... I kind of forgot about Dead Rising. I liked the second one especially. But I still like Dead Island better.
Just picked up Fable 2 at Gamestop for $5. Never played any of the Fable games ... I assume its not a prerequisite to play the Fable 1 first?
I just started (since I bought it for 5 too :grin it seems like a completely different story so I think you can skip 1.
I never played Fable 1, and I spent 50+ hours on Fable 2. It is a great game... Played it once going "dark" and once going "light."
There's no better or worse. It's really just preference. As for if you need to play Fable 1 to play 2, no you don't. Although it will fill you in on a few things; like who the blind woman guiding you is. With that said, it takes hundreds of years after Fable 1, and Fable 3 even more so.
Fable 2 was a wise choice. The first was pretty good, and the third was garbage. I don't even want to think about how many hours I put into Fable 2 (I went through the game at least 5 times), but after about only 20 minutes on Fable 3 I put it down and have yet to play it again. I also just got Halo Reach as well. XBox ID is Iroh87
Going light is hilarious, when you go dark your character changes and even grows horns... he's usually fat though. When you go light side all of the women in the game will hit on you, it is pretty hilarious.
Wish I knew about Bastion... Googling back, they had a sale a week ago. The Halo series is great for multiplayer. I'm not really into fighting geeks who spend a workweek playing the game, but if you already have the chops for that kind of stuff, the community for all games (1,2,3, Reach, ODST) is fairly strong. Have fable 2 in my library. Liked Gears of War 1,2,3. Haven't played 3 that much. Hoarde mode is interesting. I've seen Alan Wake on sale, but I want a GoTY edition to plunk some money into it. Speaking of XBL arcade, there's some really good games on there. Geometry Wars, Castle Crashers, Limbo. Other members likely know more. I would not recommend Demon Souls if you're a casual gamer. The reviews make it sound like a sadistic (yet rewarding?) Skyrim...a medieval setting where you can lose yourself in, but in this case die a lot...and some more...and sometimes to the point where you're screwed and have to restart the game to die a lot...and some... IMO, it's one of those games you invest ****tons of time into, some for bragging rights about its reputation, but the high praise likely means the rewards are plenty. Just a FYI if you're on a budget. otoh, I wouldn't mind watching a hi-res playthrough from someone who knows what they're doing. The visuals look awesome.
