Oh, and as to the Halo discussion, here's one thing to keep in mind: the first game has by far the best single-player campaign. And since I don't play much online (with the lone exception of Battlefield 3), that was sort of a big deal for me. The single-player campaign on Halo 1 is really fun... plus it has some of the best sound design of any game ever, period.
Yeah, I just got my 2nd RROD a few weeks ago. Instead of shipping it to Microsoft and paying $100, I took it to GameStop. They gave me $75 for it and I bought one of their refurbished ones. Net cost: $55 + tax plus I didn't have to wait 3-4 weeks to get back to Skyrim.
I know I've discussed this here before, but I also got a number of RRODs... but they all fell under that great warranty where they cover your system for hardware failure for three years. It says something that they gave that warranty to everyone for free and applied it retroactively. The first generation systems had just horrendously bad hardware failure rates, plain and simple. The newer versions don't fail nearly as often. I'm still stuck with the older model. I'm sure it would have failed again years ago if I hadn't bought a PS3 and basically stopped playing the thing. It'll get one more good workout when I buy Mass Effect 3 for it, just because I want to import my savegame.
First game is awesome but very repetitive... I can't play through the original. However what 343 did with the Annivsary Ed is amazing and makes it a whole new game, so I'd recommend that. Best game of the series, I'd have to go with Reach I think. Gears definitely. 3 was awesome. Forza if you're into racing. And if you got Xbox Live, Shadow Complex and Limbo are must haves... Braid and Trials are good too.
There aren't many 360 exclusives and I have never been impressed with what they do have. Halo to me was only a good multiplayer game, the campaigns were always repetitive and bland. I could never get into Gears of War because it felt like an Unreal do-over.
Yeah, definitely this. Shadow Complex is made by Chair/Epic and is like a Castelvania/Metroid style game with more of an action shooter setting. Really good.
where do you get 3-4 weeks? I sent mine in on a Monday twice and both times got it back on the Friday of that week.
I feel like this is a troll thread, since we all know 360 doesn't have any decent exclusives outside of the Halo/Gears series If you have a dusty laptop, you can play the first game on it.
Haha. Well, I'm relatively new to 360 and the only exclusives I have are gears 1 and 2. I also have a ps3 so I own most of the good multiplatform games. I only bought the 360 for the games that wouldn't be on ps3 anyways and from what I've seen on this thread, there are quite a few great exclusives on 360. I can't make my mind up on what to get since I will be heading to gamestop later in the day.
So would you say it's worth it to get fable 2 for 5 bucks? Fable 1 costs more at gamestop Right now I am considering alan wake, halo reach, fable 2, tales of vesperia. I am doing some research on them and may end up buying most/all of them because I have a gift card. I already have ME 2 on ps3 and don't really want to go back to 1 (I am eagerly awaiting me3). I will definitely pick up gears 3 once I beat 1 and 2.
Forza 3 & 4, easily the best racing games I've ever played. EDIT: Crackdown and Crackdown 2 are great as well. Like GTA but you're a super hero.
I don't really consider Mass Effect "exclusive," since anyone who bought a PC in the last 5 years can play it, plus the PC interface is far superior because you can hotkey all your abilities. They kinda "consolized" the 2nd game by giving you only 1 ability timer rather than independent ones. That leaves Tales of Vesperia, Gears of War series, Left 4 Dead series, Fable series, and Halo series as the big exclusives for 360 that I can think of. There is an old original Xbox game supported by the 360, Panzer Dragoon Orta, that's still well-worth playing even today. Definitely grab that if you find it. I've heard Alan Wake is pretty good as well but isn't terribly replayable. I bought it but haven't played it yet. There's plenty of lesser stuff as well, like Bully Scholarship Edition and Ace Combat 6 if you have particular interest in those. Dead or Alive 4 is an excellent exclusive fighter as well, but the 5th installment will be out on PS3 next year.
