A decent player, definitely worthy of being a starter and he'll benefit from playing with Irving, but will have to see how he pans out over other guys to ultimately judge whether picking him at 4 was a smart move.
I don't get the comparisons in this thread? Do I think he is HOF worthy? No. But I can't make a judgement on him from one game... especially one in which he performed well? Moreover, despite the dunks, his type of athleticism actually doesn't remind me of Stromile/Tyrus at all. It's almost more Al Horford-esque. Tristan has incredible wingspan/long-arms for his height. If he works hard, plays smart as he seems to do, I can definitely see a Horford-esque game from him.
So, he can dunk it? That two handed hookshot looked lucky... His dunks aren't really very exciting. I'd have expected more from him against the Raptors...
It's natural, probably a little homerism, but it's still to early to tell with Thompson. But he does fit the description of big, strong, lengthy, athletic, and talented players (but raw players) . . . it was a good pick, I think. If he feel in the draft, the Rockets would've drafted him . . . maybe.
Probably cause Jordan Hill can make a shot outside 7 feet. Saying that, I do wish the Rockets had a player like Tristan Thompson. The guys scoring ability might be questionable, but you know he's gonna be solid defensively.
