The one thing I get out of this game is that Dalembert is going to make a difference in the middle. Too early to make any other judgments on any other players as it's only the first game and the team really hasn't had much of a chance to practice or play together.

I hope McKale can get these guys to play some defense, with Dalembert in the middle, we could see an improvement defensively.

not only is he getting playing time it was in the 4th, WOW! In a game that was "winnable" at the time.

thought ~ we are stuck with Martin and his contract if he plays like this. Not many teams would/could pay for him anyway. If he plays the rest of the season like tonight - If your a fan of his be happy he isn't going any where any time soon.

Yeah, that was pretty mean. I'm on record as being against the McHale hire primarily because I suspect his reasons for wanting to coach have more to do with his ego than anything. Actually, I didn't see him do all that much besides sit there and call the occasional time out. Anyway, this one falls squarely on Morey.

I think McHale needs to set more plays for Martin. He's not fit for McHale's new system. His off-ball movements disappeared.

I would like for Martin to "stub his toe getting off plane ride home" then IR if needed to keep his value up. 10+M pre year, one way, back-up shooting gaurds are really hard to trade. Not much of an "asset".

One poster in the game thread said, "it's just one game," but another responded, "I feel like I have been seeing the same game for the last two years." I understand, close but no cigar. Well, Kmart will come around, sort of tough without your leading scorer. Dalembert looked good, what I expected. Scola is solid. The rest of the bunch will catch up and Patterson will make a huge difference. Where was Thabeet?

I have to wonder who actually watched the game. I thought Williams was lousy. If all you did was look at his stat line, you probably thought he had a good game (if you ignored the plus-minus, which was -10), but he's still spending way too much time playing 1 on 5. Williams enters the game and immediately waves off the point guard, Dragic. Result? Nothing, except I think the Magic scored on the other end (I'll have to watch that part of the game again). Within minutes, we were down by 9 or 10. I wasn't impressed with his defense, which I thought was supposed to be a strong suit. If it's a strong suit, he left that suit at the cleaners. The guy frustrates the hell out of me. The player he reminds me the most of is a bulked up Von Wafer, except I actually liked Von Wafer when his minutes were limited and he was in just for his offense (and when he listened to Adelman). For all those riding Williams' jock, open your eyes. He has a very long way to go. I wish Lee had played his minutes.

And some criticized Scola?? I couldn't believe it. If Luis hadn't played a terrific game, we lose by 20. By the time the 4th rolled around (when some here apparently turned on the TV), Scola was gased. He was running on fumes. Luis was the player of the game for the Rocks.

    Martin? He sucked.

Bud? He didn't look as bad as some insist that he was. Compared to Martin, he played like an All Star.

Hill? He looked like the off-season was good for him. Still plays like a young cat, but he shows promise.

Lowry? Simply amazing. The dude looks like he hasn't missed a beat from last season. If he stays healthy (what's with the knee thingy?), and he plays like this, we're going to have to start calling him a star player.

Dalembert was the biggest surprise of the game. I just hope he can play at this level every night. If he can, Morey needs to take a bow. He hasn't lost his touch. All in all, a good start. No one seriously believed that we'd scare the Magic tonight, did they? Yet we still had a chance in the 4th. If Martin has a good game, Patterson was healthy, and Williams played fewer minutes, we just might have pulled off the upset. I hope McHell figures out a rotation sometime in the next couple of weeks, or this will be a very long season indeed.

Im at work and couldnt watch the game very closely, but I noticed a few times that T. Will was taking the ball up court and acting as point even though Lowry was in the game. Did this happen a lot?

Players have particular skill sets. GMs acquire complementary talent and coaches match the game style to those skills. Hayes will not be as effective in Sacramento as he was in Houston for the same reason. That is why Adelman wanted him in Minny. It is far easier for management to match the offense and defense to players than it is for players to acquire skills to accommodate management. This is particularly true for wing players.

If Kmart is gonna mope around about a trade that didnt happen? Then we need to go ahead and move his a55. The Rockets are gonna drop some games if he plays like he is disinterested again. The guy has no mental toughness.

I feel we are tanking or the coach has a bad grasp on who to play in key situations. Adrien played way too many minutes.

    blah

    there is nothing to say

first game of the season, still rusty..

we had a slow start last season, now with a new coach it'll take some time

I'll complain after we hit at least 15 games..
