Okay think about this..assuming the Raiders beat the Chargers next week, they'll be 9-7...and assume Broncos beat the Chiefs next week, they'll be 9-7. They're both in the same division..they both split their division games against each other this year, and would have the same amount of division wins, and conference wins. Who would be the division champ then? And the team that wouldn't be the division champ would go against the Bengals (if they lose against the Ravens, and are 9-7) for the last wild card.
I'm not sure which criteria it goes to, but Denver is the division champion with a win no matter what. Perhaps moes19 can let us know which specific tiebreaker determines it. Oakland would beat the Bengals if both teams are 9-7. http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine All that said, I have a feeling the Chiefs take down the Broncos and make this irrelevant. Orton would love to stick it to his former team and Romeo Crennel can devise a defensive gameplan with the best of them. Plus, the Broncos have always been a bit of a fraud, and it's the same scenario as when KC knocked Denver of the playoffs in 2009. My gut tells me that Oakland is the No. 4 and the last WC spot comes down to the Bengals, Titans and Jets.
Denver has the common games tiebreaker over Oakland. I don't see KC beating Denver. The best defense against Tebow is a good offense, and KC doesn't have one.
The Broncos have scored 18 or fewer points in seven of their 10 games (70%) under Tebow, and three of those games included overtime field goals. The Broncos absolutely do NOT have a good offense under Tebow.
That's exactly why you need to force them out of their comfort zone by putting up lots of points, putting them in a big deficit early. If the score is similar to the Chiefs last 2 games, 19-14 & 16-13, that absolutely favors the Broncos. Not saying the Chiefs can't win, but I doubt it.
Ah, I misunderstood where you were going with that. Certainly the Broncos are more experienced in close games. But I wouldn't be shocked if Romeo could craft a scheme to limit Tebow to single digits... we'll see.
so basically we can only get raiders, bengals, or jets at home correct? [edit] and the flaming tacks if they beat us and bengals lose i think. so bengals, jets, raiders, or titans at home. i think a raiders rematch would be nice.
Oakland have the best kicker in the league. I wouldn't him kicking ridiculous 50+ yard field goals on us all game long.
^^not to mention one of the best punters in NFL history. I guess I'd pick the Bengals although the Texans play the last two games has me worried it's going to be one and done
Teams that other teams want to play in the playoffs. 1. Texans 2. Broncos 3. Bengals 4. Steelers 5. Ravens 6. Pats
I'm not so sure that teams are most scared of the patriots, at the end of the day their defense is still susceptible and a good killer defense can contain Brady. I think Ravens when they are on are the best team in the AFC.
I'm not the expert, but it appears if the Titans, Bengals and Raiders lose, and the Jets win, the Jets and Bengals would both be 9-7, but the Jets would have the better conference record, which I assume would be the tiebreaker since they didn't play each other and aren't in the same division. So that's a scenario that gets them in. And not an absurd scenario. The Bengals will have a tough one against the Ravens. The Texans need to get a win, even if their positioning is locked, and should be playing hard against the Titans. The Raiders are playing the Chargers.
