New Orleans' second round pick will be very high and therefore very valuable. I don't think they would trade their own, but they might have a future second rounder with which they might part.
If the team struggles this year this would be an idea for the team looking ahead to the 2012 off-season. three team trade Hornets- In: Scola, Flynn Out: Kaman(expiring), 2012 2nd Cavs- In: Martin, Morris Out:Jamison(expiring), 2012 1st Rockets- In: Kaman, Jamison, NO 2nd, CLE 1st Out: Scola, Flynn, Martin, Morris Lowry, Dragic, Lin Lee, Williams Bud, Parsons Patterson, Hill, Jamison Dalembert, Kaman, Thabeet Sign Mayo, draft Drummond & Kidd-Gilchrist, & bring over Motiejunas & Llull!! Lowry, Llull Mayo, Williams MKG, Bud, Parson Patterson, Motiejunas Drummond, Dalembert
Looks like 2 separate deals, with one being Kaman for Scola & Flynn. Prior to us picking up Sammy D, this was clearly a win-win. We need more 2:1s like this to get younger, better, and clear the roster logjam of 4s and 1s.
THREE WAY TRADE Houston: out: Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson and Chase Budinger in: Rudy Gay and Dorell Wright Memphis: in: Monta Ellis, Chase Budinger and Patrick Patterson out: Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo Golden State: in: Kevin Martin and OJ Mayo out: Monta Ellis and Dorell Wright
Iggy, Speights for Patterson, Lee, Flynn, Thabeet HOU - They upgrade at SF with Iggy and pick up someone they've wanted in Speights. PHI - 2 young starter quality players in Patterson and Lee with PPat still having considerable upside. Shed salary and fully commit to youth movement and developing Evan Turner. Lee is a good fit next to him because of his defense and 3 point ability and does not require the ball in his hands a lot. Thabeet and Flynn are low risk backups. Dalembert/Speights Scola/Hill Iggy/Chase Martin/Williams Lowry/Dragic Morris, Adrien, Lin That lineup is good enough for 3-5 seed in West IMO.
Iggy's not the guy we should be targeting especially when we have T-will starting to turn his career around. And give up Ppat? Pass.
There's always a possibility but it's slim that those two players will even reach the same level as Iggy. This is what the Rockets have been hoping for a team buying into the idea of potential that they'd part with a star player.
I don't think we can count on T-will being a "star" player. And by "star" I mean as good as Lowry even. Not saying it won't happen but just that we can't count on it. But if it does... great! T-will could backup Iggy. Right now trading for a 3 is the only way we're upgrading our starting line-up without sending Scola, Lowry or Martin back in a deal. McHale seems to really want this team to get better on the defensive end and I think it would help to have someone like Iggy on the team at the 3 when your main perimeter threat isn't a 2-way player. There won't be an opposing perimeter player that either Lowry or AI can't guard effectively.
Plus, we get to keep our 3 prospects with the highest ceiling (Moti, Morris, TWil). We already have a good idea of what kind of player Patpat and Lee are going to be. A trio of Lowry/Martin/Iggy is roughly $30 mil. We could probably add a max type player in the PF/C combo if we trade Scola. Dwight/?/Iggy/Martin/Lowry or even Lopez/?/Iggy/Martin/Lowry
Rockets and Orlando trade Rockets getwight Howard, 2nd round pick Orlando gets: Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Samuel Dalembert/Jordan Hill, 1st round pick sounds good to me
A 3rd team needs to get involved in that trade. I can't them taking on so many contracts like that and only one pick. Plus we need D12 to opt into his final year. Otherwise, it's a waste.
You said if. Why would Morey match a starting offer? Theres a lot of teams who can use lee at the starting 2. And if this is Moreys plan all along why dont he trade martin and start him already to show him Rockets is where he needs to be.
This wasnt a trying to trade Martin Situation. This was a get a all star situation and they wanted Martin so ok. This team has doen NOTHING to show they want Lee long run. he gets little minutes, coming from a team where he got a lot.
He matched Lowry because it was a easy match and back then it was a bit high but now Lowry is playing above that contract. Lee will get a much higher contract.
