I think he will get better as his conditioning improves. His 2nd quarter was impressive in SA. His house building the rest of the game...not so much. I they have had 2-a-days now since camp opened up up right? I can't wait to see hime at full strength and with a little more experience. I showed me a pretty quick first step there against Manu.
I've been seeing the "it's not worth tanking to get a pick in the 6-11 range because we're not bad enough to get a top 5 pick" argument a lot lately, but here's what I don't understand. Teams have shown in the past few years, that it's POSSIBLE to trade up into the top 5, but ONLY if you have a decent pick that isn't that much further behind. You can't get up there with a 14, but maybe you can with a 7. Add that to our other first round pick and I certainly feel it's doable. You're not in the clear if you get a pick in that range, but you're absolutely not hurting yourself like you would be in this current purgatory we're in. So what if we get pick #10 instead of 14? At least we're GETTING a pick, unlike if we make the playoffs. And then who's to say what we could turn that pick plus our other combination of assets (yeah I meant to use that word) into.
Most of his baskets last game were set up. Needs to work his ass off to create shots for himself off the dribble if he ever wants to reach his full potential.
Tristan Thompson at number one is absolutely INSANE. That guy will be a bust and a half. He has no offensive game whatsoever and is a terrible free throw heaver to boot. He has long arms. That's about it.
It's actually going to be quite interesting, because it should be quite the battle between Budinger, Morris, and T-Will for minutes at the three. Lee and Dragic make things more complicated still. It's a real shame Morey couldn't trade for his superstar. It is hard to see how everyone gets the minutes they need.
Lol, Flynn dribbles without purpose and does not go anywhere productive with it. He just likes to pound pound pound.
Usually teams only do this if they think the guy that is falling is worth it. Think Love/Mayo trade. Love was a #7, Mayo a #2 and look who is the better player? I think where the "trade up to get picks" idea works with the #14 is when you are trading up for a Kevin Love type of player but the team that has the pick has no need for that position. So they would do the deal and take a pick 7 picks later. But the other thing that is worth pointing out is that tanking for a top 5 pick doesn't guarantee a franchise caliber player. There might only be like 2 Dwight Howards or Chris Pauls in the draft. And they might not be the obvious pick (those two weren't). So if we get a #2, we might just get someone on the scale of Kevin Martin... guys like that are easy to come by (we basically traded Carl Landry for Martin). It's the franchise caliber players that are harder to get. Right now I think we have a better shot at landing Williams or Howard (or someone else I guess through a trade) than we do at landing a player as good as those two drafting.
I was just thinking earlier but what do you guys think about a lineup that included: Lowry Williams Morris Patterson Dalembert I really think Williams and Morris may work very very well. Plus the defense gets a boost with Martin and Bud off the court. Then you can have Martin come in for some quick scoring. BTW this is not a starting lineup. This is just when Martin, Bud, and Scola come out but leave Lowry in. This lineup could do some damage.
If Williams and morris have that defensive skill Morey was talking about, they can easily hold teams under 100 pts per game.
This is a good point but if you go down the list all the way to #11, the 4 we have are the only ones that haven't lived up to their potential. The rest have all become starters or good NBA players. 1 LAC Blake Griffin (Superstar) 2 MEM Hasheem Thabeet 3 OKC James Harden (valuable to Thunder run) 4 SAC Tyreke Evans (ROY) 5 MIN Ricky Rubio (?) 6 MIN Jonny Flynn 7 GSW Stephen Curry (2nd go to scorer for GS) 8 NYK Jordan Hill 9 TOR DeMar DeRozan (haven't seen much of him but haven't heard bust) 10 MIL Brandon Jennings (starter) 11 NJN Terrence Williams
Thank you OP for enlarging the size of the text. If not for that, I don't know how I would have been able to locate the part about Morris.
