I read what ArtV wrote and all I can think about is the cop from "First Blood" giving John Rambo a hard time. ArtV, I want you to beat up some cops, commandeer a motor bike, head for the mountains, jump off a cliff wall, survive by hitting the tree canopy, down a helicopter with a rock, stitch your arm wound up, kill/eat a wild hog, booby trap the forest, take out the search party, commandeer a military vehicle, blow up a gas station, bust in the ammo/gun store, shoot some transformers, bust in the cop station, take that chicken**** small-town cop out, and be led away in handcuffs while mumbling "he drew first blood". ;)

lol...I guess you missed the part where I am an old man.

Seriously, we live with it and if you are clean you are just inconvenienced. Unfortunately my son was not on his stop. He did confess that the pipe was his (pipe, no pot - they were out) and that they smoked the last about 5 hours earlier outside in the woods. He didn't understand why the police was lying since my son knew he was guilty. ie He wasn't aware of the stop/search laws. Well he got a ticket for failing to stop (had to issue it to give just cause to stopping him). We just went to court on that and the officer said under oath that he didn't stop. My son wanted to argue in court because while he was willing to pay the price for the possession, he didn't think it was right to take pay the price for the stop. I told him he was not going to win and you were most likely going to make matters worse but since he too was under oath and I didn't want him to lie to just say you "thought" you came to a stop. I hated telling my son that but like tanking, I thought that was the best thing to do in the overall scheme. Defensive Driving... Then he had to go to court for the possession. Pleaded guilty to that (which he was) but the report states that a cloud of mar1juana smoke hit the officer when he opened his window. Oh well. Since that was a county jv court, not the mtn court, the judge was very nice about it all - almost too nice. I'm sure that this was minor compared to the rest of his docket.

I'm glad it happened because I think overall it was a good thing for many reasons but I am still not happy with how they do things up here. This town is too small for an internal affairs and the captain supports his officers (as he should). ie I have no idea how to correct the problem other than tell them when they come calling for money that until they clean it up, to just keep moving.

It's all just a business to them. The law isn't for protecting our rights. The law is setup to benefit big business. They arrest non-violent working people for drug possession and keep them paying monthly and on probation to the benefit of every industry involved from the drug testing business, to the drug councilors, to the arms manufacturers that supply the weapons used to fight the war on drugs. Traffic violations are essentially the same thing, and end up benefitting insurance companies by allowing them to jack up prices under the guise that some guy who runs a stop sign at 2:00 AM in the middle of nowhere is a great risk, not only to insure, but to the well-being of society as a whole. And it's all a great example of the broken window fallacy in economics, that, despite the fact that people are employed in these industries and are benefitting from this system, overall, we aren't improving our standard of living because this benefit comes from somebody else's suffering. There is no common sense in the system. It's just terrible apparatus designed entirely for the wealthy and well-connected and without any care for the well-being of the average working person.

You'd probably be more credible if you weren't such a close-minded tool.
