Kick off or receive?

I would think it would be the opposite... has a team ever deferred in OT?

 

Yep. Real teams defer. I know the Steelers used to all the time.

 

I'd rather have the first possession in the 2nd half so defer.

 

According to advancednflstats.com, teams that kickoff to start a half are more likely to score more points in that half. Maybe, electing to kickoff is the way to go.

 

The Texans should kick off against the Colts on Thursday since their offense is a joke without Manning.
