This is off-topic, but Andy Rubin says Google is now activating over 700,000 Android devices each day. Crazy. In theory if they continue this rate of growth, it could get up to 1 million/day next year. Don't know if that is really possible. Android will have to eventually level off. https://plus.google.com/u/0/112599748506977857728/posts
Btw, if you guys are experiencing issues with 4G. There's a nice LTE outage right now. If you can't get 3g, switch to CDMA only, wait 15 seconds, make a phone call, and then 3g should come back for you
I have the RAZR right now and I love it, but when I held a co-worker's Nexus, I envied the ICS and the wider screen size (the proportions throws me off in portrait mode). What I love about the RAZR is the thinness in my pockets (esp w/ Jeans), nice call quality/radio and supposedly nicer (than Samsung) audio playback for IEMs. Since I'm in IT, I don't really worry about the charge of my battery (car, PC, home) so 6 hrs unplugged is fine. I notice the greenish tinge for lower brightness too. As for the Nexus, it's not a complete winner either. No expandable SD card slot for movies and music. Earlier adopter issues unpleasant, but no boot locker! I've done the research so any personal experiences for people who have owned both is valuable to me.
I cant wait to see the blur builds of ICS. Anyone see the builds of ICS for Sense and Touchwiz? The one for sense looks absolutely the same as current versions of sense. They kept their color scheme. As for touchwiz, its going to look the same as well but they used the ics color schemes and settings options. Despite my hatred towards motorola, the razr isnt that bad at all. I like the rezound too but sense is so mehh to me.
I was worried about the storage but the 32gb is enough for me coming from a phone. With a 16 gb microsd. I tested a 1080p mkv that is 11gb on it with diceplayer and it works good. Plenty of space for smaller quality movies in my opinion.
You probably read my Sprint post (in a different thread that I started). I was so ready to upgrade to the Galaxy S 2. After reading around, other than the screen, the Nexus Prime doesn't seem that much better than the S 2. I would still order the S 2 today if I had the chance, and if I knew I were sticking with Sprint. If I have to wait till April, I might just hope the S 3 is out by then, and for Sprint. I might be willing to wait a month or two for it if I have to. 12 MP camera, the processor sounds crazy, too. I'm not a hardcore cell junkie, but to someone like me, the S 3 sounds crazy nice.
To be honest, it really isn't that much different in terms of performance. You'll be glad with whatever purchase. The main difference here is the OS. ICS 4 is amazing, to the point where when I first got the phone, I kinda felt like a noob with regards to settings that were moved around, etc. The Epic 4g Touch (Sprint GS2) is great, I know someone who has it and is more than happy with it. Yes, I'm thinking we are going to see the S3 at MWC next year. Specs should be even better. I enjoy the Exynos processors , but I to like the stability of the TI Omap 4460 that all the new Motorola phones seem to be including, along with the Galaxy Nexus.
You want iPhone level smoothness on the Sensation? Download MIUI for it. My mom is on T-mobile and I put her on that rom as she didn't like Sense, and she loves it. In fact, she pretty much figured out how to use it all by herself since MIUI is really user friendly. I did however see that ICS 4.0.1 rom for the Sensation. It's horrible. I like HTC don't get me wrong, I like their hardware even though alot of their phones look alike, but I think it's time to kill sense if you want to be successful. I feel that Touchwiz is superior to it now. (Just my opinion)
See, and the boat that I'm in, it looks like I'll be waiting until April to upgrade. By the ICS updates should be out for the GS2, I'm assuming. Right now, that is the phone I have my eye on, unless something comes out that blows me away (like the S 3 could).
I'm hearing rumors of a quadcore Sprint phone in a few months. With phones, nothing really surprises me anymore. I'm sure you'll have options come April, and yes, by then alot of manufacturers will have updated their handsets to ICS
Especially when the OS is going to have manufacturer customization on top http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/21/2652851/htc-android-4-0-sensation-xe-rcteam
It's one of the reasons why I stay away from HTC phones. Their sense customization was great for windows mobile 6.5 but on android I think it's unneccessary. I like the feel of their phones and the quality of the hardware but I can't stand the Sense. I could always flash a new ROM but I'm tired of flashing these days which is why I went with the Nexus.
Exactly, I used to be an HTC type of guy too. Usually I just got an HTC phone, rooted it, and got rid of Sense lol. Now, I don't even want to do that. I'd rather just buy a Nexus. If I can't get a Nexus, I'll stick to Touchwiz. The absolute worst though is "LG HOME" . I wonder what LG phone's are going to look like with ICS
