We had cake and light refreshments.... about a grand... but we had a hook-up. Yes, weddings can be expensive... but then, that was my wife's family's responsibility. The real bill came at the rehearsal dinner. That's why my dad took us all to CiCi's.
4 real...Although, I have taken girls to nice places at or above $50 a head...I agree, we are all spoiled..the things we do for azz... For our x-mas party last year (25 - 30 people), we went to Nick and Sam's (awesome food btw) and it was over $4000 (including wine/drinks)...Which IMHO, isn't that bad at all... I can't imagine expensing an $8000 meal for 6 people...
Just finished eating at French laundry in napa tonight. 2nd best meal I've ever had. $1200 for two people. Ritz in Paris was number one
Ate at Daniel's in NYC last month.. Came out to around $500 for two people.. that's without wine.. Amazing how much flavor each bite had.
Also, most food that cost 200 dollars a piece I would enjoy anyway. I'm not in to fancy foods like truffles and crap like that. I rather have fried catfish than a eel or something octopus leg? What do they call that, calamari? Can I get my money back more like it.
I'm really glad I don't give a sh-t about wine and that craft beer is widely available in good restaus - it basically cuts 50% off your check, and you can escape a high end restaurant for $100-200 a person. Above that point it seems like diminishing marginal returns.

Was just about to post this. The meal might run up to $200 then you add in two expensive bottles of wine and voila, a $400 meal.
80 dollars tops. I'm in High School. Can't imagine spending 400+ on two people... Maybe on like ten or fifteen people... but not two.
$400 is nothing if you're a fan of Kobe beef. Just my wife and I have spent upwards of $****.** on dinner including the ridiculously over priced wine. I still don't get the fascination with Tony's. So much money for "pretty" food that really isn't that great. it doesn't even fill me up. The entree is like an appetizer.
My wife is a top caliber chef, so we've eaten at some very fine restaurants around the world. Dropping $400 is not a normal occurrence for us, but we have done that at a number of places over the years. The place she's the chef de cuisine at, Cafe Juanita, is a place where you could easily spend $400 if you had a decent bottle of wine (they have some bottles over $1000). I think we dropped about $700-$800 at Chef Bruno in Provence. The chef is called the truffle king, and we opted for the white truffle prix fie with some nice wine. That was one of the most decadent and awesome meals I've ever had.
