I think Dalembert, Scola, Martin, Dragic, and a first round pick is a whole lot better than just Gasol. I think David Stern actually did us a favor. There was no guarentee Nene came here if we got Gasol and if even if he did it would look good for how long? Two big guys with big contracts on the decline of their career. I think everything worked out for the best.

For the amount of money he was gonna get, you can bet Nene would've came here. That said, out of those three, I think Dragic's loss would've been the most felt. Flynn is not good enough.

By almost all accounts, Nene was headed here. This also would have cleared up several positions for young players like Morris and TWill to get more minutes. I think they still need to make a trade or 2 as there are entirely too many players on the roster that need minutes as is.

So then we would have had two big guys and nobody to compliment them, in a shortened back to back to back nba season depth is going to be the key and thats something the Rockets definetly have plenty of now. And I have to disagree about Dragic if Flynn can get back to his rookie season form hes definetly the better point guard.

so you're saying you're satisfied with being just good enough to make the 8th seed, but nowhere closer to winning a championship?

We would still have Lowry, Lee, Budinger, Patterson, Hill, TWill, Morris, Flynn, etc. etc...

There is also no indication that Morey would have stopped making moves after completion of the trade.

Dalembert, Scola, and Martin are all in the decline of their careers too, just as much, if not more, than Gasol and Nene.

Can people stop talking about players individually? Basketball is a team game. Not a sum of individual players like baseball.

Think of it another way. Imagine trading the 19th defense in the NBA for a top 5 defense in the NBA. And at the same time lowering offense from 4th to likely still top 10(Nene, Gasol, Lee is a slight drop off from Scola, Martin, Hayes)

Would you take a team with likely a top 5 defense and top 10 offense vs what we had last year?

No im saying I dont think Gasol and Nene wins us a championship and at most they make us better for 2 years tops? Then we have two huge contracts and nothing to show for (T-Mac and Yao all over again). You send your younger players to the d league this year to develop further, you have plenty of depth for a jam packed season that will likely be injury riddled since there was no offseason. Then your in a even better spot next year to land a star caliber player.

You can't be serious. The prime years for an NBA player is their early 30's.

Nene is 29. Gasol is 31. So what is the problem?

By the way, Kevin Martin is 28 and Scola is 31.

The OP or anyone else who says that we would have gotten older through the trade or that Pau Gasol (who was an MVP candidate last year) is on his last leg needs to realize this.
