This simply gives McHale options to work with in terms of big men. Someone is not gonna get minutes (probably Thabeet) and rightfully so, because the more productive players are gonna see the floor (whether present production or future potential). The only people who could be upset about this are those in favor of tanking. Morey has clearly stated that that is not the direction that Les Alexander wants to go (even indicating that Morey would be OK with tanking). End of story. You want a losing team, get a new owner. Also, keep in mind the goal is to win now, and that this was not plan A. Our plan A was vetoed by a conflict of interest, but that did not serve to alter the goal (win now). So, go down the list of options for your plan B. All things considered, when you look at the going rate for big men (definite seller's market) through this offseason ... it's hard to dislike this signing - taking into account the owner's unwillingness to budge on his goal, and the fact that our plan A was dismantled through a very unusual turn of events.
You don't know what you are talking about. Drexler and Barkley forced trades to Houston. Kevin Willis and Carr signed in Houston for well under value contracts. Antonio McDyess and Penny Hardaway both had interest in coming to Houston but could not because of the cap situation. Shawn Kemp, Penny Hardaway, Antonio McDyess, Shaquille O'Neal, Nick Van Exel and many, many others lived in Houston. Houston has long been an attractive place for players, but other than LA and NY, players won't usually go to a team without a superstar. If the Rockets had a top 5 talent and were in the WCF there would be a line of players wanting to be dealt to Houston.
This right here. He is will be mad and angry at the rest of the NBA for not wanting him. I would expect him to come to play focused and ready to take it to the rest of the league.
Hmm, I'll be ecstatic, if the Rockets reached the playoffs with all the juggernauts in the West (some National TV time), yet if we fail to make the playoffs ... I'll be . . . satisfied. How can you be upset with lottery draft pick in a deep draft?
Driftwood floats. Maybe we can nickname the team Zatara, find a ridiculous treasure, and get vengence on our enemies...
He's cheaper than his last contract. That's good enough for me. He can still play better than our last rounds of Yao replacements (i.e. miller, Andersen).
Not down with dalembert..... he's gonna be out of shape opening night because he did not go to camp or play in any preseasons - with that said... solid on d morey for getting him for 7 milli considering kwame brown was had for that much
great pickup! I like this move as he only is tied up for two years. This contract is fair for a starting nba center and comes fairly cheap to the Rockets. Solid A+ pickup!
Had to do something about the lack of interior defense; better than doing nothing. I think the playoffs may be at least a possibility. I don't think the Rockets overpaid either, but I don't know much about the business side. Boring.
TheRealTWill Terrence Williams Preseason over with now on to the real stuff.... I wanna welcome Samuel D to the team..huge edition for the team.... Whoop
