Considering that the Texans already have their playoff spot locked up, and are looking for a first round bye, I'm gonna go with the Texans. The Eagles still need a lot of help. They are much like the Chargers.....if they had figured it out 2 weeks earlier than they did, both teams would have the rest of their conferences shaking in their boots.
I disagree. Looked like the standard Texan playbook to me. Yates was the problem. He rushed *everything* and had no patience to let routes develop. Trust me - I was at the game, and guys were running free all over the field. But Yates had unfortunately already dumped it down to Vickers. He threw 8 times in the 1Q against Carolina to only 6 runs, including a stretch of seven straight passes. And 17:12 for the half. But Yates was 1 for 5 converting 3rd downs and threw an interception, fumbled and took a sack. Agreed. Other than resting Johnson, which is wholly defensible, what are they doing to concern you? They've given no indication they intend to coast, either by words or action. In fact, he's never coasted. He leaves Schaub in when they're up 3 TDs in the 4Q; says his guys have worked hard and deserve to be in there at the end. Why would he treat this any differently? I think he really wants the bye. Guys are hurting; you can see it on defense especially. It gives Briesel a chance to get healtheir, another week to work with Yates; one more week for Johnson to rest, etc.
Lmao, Yates was the problem? So we are going to put the loss on him? No, Foster never fumbled on the FIRST drive. No, Johnathan Joseph didn't let Steve Smith pink him repeatedly. None of that happened. The Texans lost the game because of Yates.... Sunday's lost was the classic team letdown. No one player is to blame.
I never get tired of looking at that picture, the vid is even better. They need to play it before every game and say, see this is what we are about to do.
For the sake of fairness, I'll note that I agree with you wholeheartedly on all these items. TJ absolutely was the problem on Sunday. Guys were wide open on crossing patterns all day long.
I like this one even better: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pcy3-QcKaC4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Language NSFW.
I wasn't there, so I hope the Playbook guys can show us some of this using the "all-22" footage; would be great for the fans to see that!
I counted 3 different drops that were on Owen Daniels. What happened to him last week? He wasn't playing at the pro-bowl level he had been at.
The drops were bad, costly, and uncharacteristic. Everyone seemed to be off their game. ...but it's been awhile since OD's been at a Pro Bowl level. He's close to regaining his pre-injury form, but I'd say he's maybe top 10 among TEs these days, #5 in the AFC. The Cincy and Oakland games were the only dominate showings by him this year.
I was responding to emjohn's post - it had nothing to do with team play. He suggested Kubiak's playcalling Sunday was conservative and lacked a killer instinct. I disagreed and suggested that what he saw wasn't conservative playCALLING but merely conservative play, which is 100% on Yates. He was Checkdown Charlie Sunday. And when he wasn't throwing 1-yard passes to Vickers, he was hanging 55-foot curves to Owen Daniels. He was miserable.
Right now Texans because Philly isn't guaranteed a Playoffs. In 2 weeks if Philly ends up 8-8 NFC East winners and Texans are 11-5, I would take the Eagles despite them having 3 less wins than us.
Look the 2009 season: - Saints started 13-0 and then lost the next 3, so they 13-3, but they had a 3-game losing streak entering the playoffs - San Diego started 2-3 and then they had a 11-game winning streak entering the playoffs. its looks like Saints peaked too early and lost all the momemtum going into playoffs, while the chargers were having a nice streak, and looked like they would continue that winning streak into the playoffs. But what happened: - San Diego lost in their first playoff game - New Orleans won the Superbowl so who you rather be? Also if you look other seasons, San Diego always peaks in december, (have the record of 18 straight win in december) but only one time (in that period) reached the AFC championship. So I would still rather be the texans that already clinched the division, over the eagles, they still need other results to enter the playoffs.
