RIP to Private Danny Chen.....As for the other 8 soldiers responsible for his death, what a f**kin embarassment and disgrace to the US military....Soldiers risk their lives to help our country.....Soldiers dont join the military to be hazed and killed by their fellow soldiers......

Hope this story and other similiar stories goes primetime on CNN, Nancy Grace, etc forcing the military to do the right thing so justice can be served....Absolutely disgusted.....

An eye for an eye is the only mentality for these soldiers.. This should motivate more young Chinese Kids to be recruited in the military and just start kicking some ass...

Psychological torture is an option here for these bastards.
    Emotional scars > physical damage.

That's the problem. Kids. They give a bunch of kids guns and yell at them and send them places they've never been. Its r****ded.

This following the story of the woman GI raped, tortured, and murdered by her fellow soldiers really makes the military seem like a nice place to work.

You have a bunch of 19-20 year olds who probably came from Bumblephuk, Nowhere empowered with guns, and this is what you get. Racism and ignorance drive segments of this country's population, and when you get a bunch of those scumbags together in the same place, it's always going to end in a bad way. What a travesty. Serve with honor my ass.

I'd argue the real problem is that this is endemic from the top down in the military, and transcends age or socioeconomics, for the most part.

This may not be a popular opinion, but this generation's soldiers are not Heroes. They're just a bunch of high school grads who did not want to go to college or enter the work force, enlisting in the army seemed like a path deemed less pathetic than staying at home and playing on their Xbox.

    Generalize much?

But in essence...yes, the driver for many men and women joining the military is not the glorious reason of persuing justice and protecting the USA. Many are there for the simple reason of thinking they have no other option.

Interesting that the majority here feel the need to bash and stereotype 1.5 million people protecting you in order to explain the murderous action of a dozen. You are bashing the institution that Private Danny Chen gave his life.

I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that there are more than just a few bad apples, from top to bottom.

There's a reason why people all over the world don't want US military bases in or near their city.

Would love to hear what number that represents when active duty personnel is 1.5million. We have 7.2 million people in prison in the USA for example.

To suggest it has something to do with the class, morality or professionalism of our servicemen exposes you.

Completely disagree. These are 18 year old kids from mostly poor backgrounds. There are a lot of people who join cause they want to, but they are ones who become officers and stuff and usually go to school and get training. Those get weeded out by the time they are 21 or 22 you know they are solid folks.

And yet we see stories like the Aircraft Carrier Captain who made those derogatory videos. Or the plethora of generals that adamantly defended "Don't ask don't tell." Dan Choi's treatment. The coverups - Pat Tillman, the aforementioned Lavena Lynn Johnson... Or collateral murder, the Haditha massacre, the Ishaqi incident... etc.

They're not weeded out. The one's good at hiding it get promoted.

No need to project your middle-class options and indulgences on others.

We live in a free society with opportunities for everyone. They chose the one with the highest risk of death. Incidentally, if none of them went; we would be invaded, out of sheer spite, and, on numbers, defeated in a millisecond.
