I agree, and I don't want 4 more wins. Incremental moves are sure to ensure more mediocre mediocrity. Time to stop this carousel of nonsense. The draft class is deeply deep in richly talented NBA talent. Make it happ'n, cap'n!
Kudos to DM for not caving in to desperation and just spending $$$ like a drunken sailor just because we have it. It sounds like a deal is close to impossible at this point. The Rockets clearly are trying to get him for cheap and/or on a one year deal (probably both). To Dalembert's camp, after watching the Rockets attempt to throw max deals at Nene and Gasol, this has to be close to insulting. Sure, it's a business (and I agree he's probably not worth what he's asking), but his agent is likely using this argument in negotiations with DM. And we all know that's not going to get him anywhere.
Messages keep popping up he's gained weight so glad Morey didn't sign him, although I reallly wanted him from the start (over Nene, Chandler and Gasol). Now bring back the Wagon
4 more wins is a pretty big impact for a single, non-star player, especially this year with the shortened season. 4 more wins is likely the difference between making the playoffs and not. This other thing you want ain't happening. Get over it. Morey and Les are not going to take a young team on the verge of making the playoffs and throw in the towel. You can either root for us to make the playoffs or not but stop rooting for them to fail because they clearly aren't aiming to.
While its true that no one expects Les to tank, I also dont expect him to sign off on bad / over-payed contracts. While Dalembert might give us 4 wins (I say 2 or 3), you have to consider what he is subtracting also (payroll flexibility, cap room, a roster spot, subtracting minutes from someone who may need developing time). Its certainly NOT tanking or throwing in the towel to take note of what his subtractions hinder us from doing now or in the future.
There is no guarantee that Dalambert will get us any more wins than what we currently have.......might as well find out what Thabeet and Hill can do first. DD
That's fine. I'm not advocating giving him a bad contract just to get him. I'd like Dalembert here, but if Morey's not willing to overpay and Dalembert doesn't like what we're offering, I'm cool with no deal being done. I don't know if anybody expects Les to tank, but many would certainly like him to. My throwing in the towel comment was in reference to people who are against adding Dalembert because they see it as an effort to get better when they'd rather us get worse so we can get a higher lottery pick.
sam_amick Sam Amick Source says the Kings have pulled the offer for free agent center Samuel Dalembert.
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Just going up on ESPN.com: Rockets and Samuel Dalembert reach terms on two-year contract. Link on way momentarily
