I dunno if I will make it to the next season Too many . . deus ex machina moments Villians are just too . . .stupid Rocket River
*sigh* Spoiler 1. Why in the hell did lucas not just kill Sky? how many times can someone 'betray' you and you just let them chill out. 2. Why would they trust someone outside of their group to be there doctors/techs/etc? how *****ing stupid are these people? 3. just cut everyone from the future off from this 'paradise'? How selfish? I mean . .let's send Mr. I'm-not-even-suppose-to-be-here back to make sure no one else gets the golden opportunity. SCREW THE REST OF CIVILIZATION. Let's just take care of our 1000 friends. Of course the Sainted Shannon family and those they actually give a d*mn about come through pretty much intacted. Except the girlfriend that was a non factor the whole series. . . Why is the wife involved in all military ops as well. . . .. . 4. What the hell . . is Lucas a frickin Cyborg??? 5. The invading army just leaves. . . citizens intacted. . . buildings intacted . . no booby traps or nothing? No hard feelings. Sorry . . .you strand me away from my family, friends, etc forever. . . i think I would want a little PAYBACK . . . and leave alot of blood in the streets. SMH Rocket River
Spoiler 1. Why in the hell did lucas not just kill Sky? how many times can someone 'betray' you and you just let them chill out. He has a thing for her from the looks of it... love/infatuation makes you do stupid things... even if you're a mad genius. lol. 2. Why would they trust someone outside of their group to be there doctors/techs/etc? how *****ing stupid are these people? They apparently had no choice - they have no doctors, and even if they did, wth would they know about pre-historic earth bugs? But I thought the same thing. 3. just cut everyone from the future off from this 'paradise'? How selfish? I mean . .let's send Mr. I'm-not-even-suppose-to-be-here back to make sure no one else gets the golden opportunity. SCREW THE REST OF CIVILIZATION. Let's just take care of our 1000 friends. They stated why they did this - the company invading the past is out for money and to destroy it as a result, anyway. What use would it be to the people coming over if it just becomes another "2149"? So it's either "paradise" for 1000 people or another 2149 for everybody that comes through. Of course the Sainted Shannon family and those they actually give a d*mn about come through pretty much intacted. Except the girlfriend that was a non factor the whole series. . . Why is the wife involved in all military ops as well. . . .. . She's the lead medic/doctor. She's directing anything medical for all of Terra Nova. Also, several people there have multiple duties. It's not a fully-functioning independent society yet with only a handful of people. 4. What the hell . . is Lucas a frickin Cyborg??? I don't know how the shots didn't kill him, but I've noticed those weapons don't seem to kill a lot of things. Like dinosaurs. Seems like impact weapons at times instead of projectile weapons. Not sure about this one, but I had the same question. The other question I had was "how the hell do you not know the dude is getting up and running away? He's about 5 feet from you!" 5. The invading army just leaves. . . citizens intacted. . . buildings intacted . . no booby traps or nothing? No hard feelings. Sorry . . .you strand me away from my family, friends, etc forever. . . i think I would want a little PAYBACK . . . and leave alot of blood in the streets. Not sure about this one, either.
The producer of this show is Brandon Braga, who was involved with the various Star Trek series as writer and producer - specifically all the goofy "dream symbolism" type episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as pretty much everything about Star Trek: Voyager. Just like Star Trek the episodes are very tightly plotted and move quickly, but if you think too much about them the whole thing will unravel. It is more about moving the story and creating a theme than creating realistic characters with genuine well fleshed out realistic emotions and motivations. When I saw that Braga was the producer, every misgiving I had about the show suddenly made sense. If you want to watch, turn off your brain.
Spoiler Thats what my roomate said immediately after realizing the part was from a ship. That would be a cool way to leave a possible rift in the series after the finale.
Spoiler 1. Why in the hell did lucas not just kill Sky? how many times can someone 'betray' you and you just let them chill out. He has a thing for her from the looks of it... love/infatuation makes you do stupid things... even if you're a mad genius. lol. That was a bit creepy. All of a sudden he is Commodus! This show seems to have a thing for young young girls and older dudes [see the daughter and the military guy] Aren't these girls suppose to be 15~17 at most 2. Why would they trust someone outside of their group to be there doctors/techs/etc? how *****ing stupid are these people? They apparently had no choice - they have no doctors, and even if they did, wth would they know about pre-historic earth bugs? But I thought the same thing. The Doctor I may have let make it but No Techs to maintain the most important peice of equipment in your whole fricking scheme?!??!?!? The teleportabridgetothefuture thingie? ?? because they will all be willing to help us to the most after we raid their village and take over! 3. just cut everyone from the future off from this 'paradise'? How selfish? I mean . .let's send Mr. I'm-not-even-suppose-to-be-here back to make sure no one else gets the golden opportunity. SCREW THE REST OF CIVILIZATION. What use would it be to the people coming over if it just becomes another "2149"? So it's either "paradise" for 1000 people or another 2149 for everybody that comes through. Which begs the question. Is this company the only bridge to the future? I thought it was run by the government. But this company was soooooo big and rich . . . they could control it absolutely? I often wondered why they never just sent messages back telling the future what was going on? Send more men? Of course the Sainted Shannon family and those they actually give a d*mn about come through pretty much intacted. Except the girlfriend that was a non factor the whole series. . . Why is the wife involved in all military ops as well. . . .. . She's the lead medic/doctor. She's directing anything medical for all of Terra Nova. Also, several people there have multiple duties. It's not a fully-functioning independent society yet with only a handful of people. I was mostly irratated when they escape and make it to the village the Corporal [which will be you new female military lead i guess. . . . a position that will never be done as well as Gina Torres in FireFly] tells the Red Shirt to go find her boyfriend and take his place on the dangerous front lines. . . she and he could make out . . . Even the Red Shirt was like .. WTF?!??! 4. What the hell . . is Lucas a frickin Cyborg??? I don't know how the shots didn't kill him, but I've noticed those weapons don't seem to kill a lot of things. Like dinosaurs. Seems like impact weapons at times instead of projectile weapons. I'll bet money that Lucas will be looking for a way to reopen the bridge but . . .will probably open to many other time frames or something I think the series just denigrated into a copy of the British show . . PREHISTORIC . . .maybe a bit more family oriented Rocket River
Rocket River, I think maybe you don't pay enough attention to what is going on in the show: Spoiler 1. Lucas didn't kill sky because he is crazy and is infatuated with her. The man has been isolated in the jungle for a long period of time. He's got a crush on this girl and is particularly interested in her because his father has become a father figure to her. In real life people don't kill everyone. 2. I definitely agree with you that they should have had a tech guy. That one doesn't make sense. 3. Destroying Hope Plaza. This was explained. The corporation had taken control of Hope Plaza. There weren't going to be anymore pilgrimages. The government had lost control because of a believed disaster and this para military force was going to be able to use it at will without anyone knowing. Soldiers were going to come forever unless the destroyed it. That was the whole point Wash made. 4. Lucas not dying. Yeah, this is weird. Typical for an action flick though. 5. Soldiers leave without killing and destroying everyone. Yeah, because they don't care about those people. Remember, they made a bee line to the badlands as a group. Why? Because they know something we don't know, like maybe another exit! That is what is being hinted at by that piece of the ship that was found. The military force isn't interested in sticking around fighting or babysitting, they want to go to the Badlands.
For those that are interested there is some chatter this could return and apparently the suits at FOX had the same issues about the writing.... "House" was one of three shows at the network "on the bubble" as it were, the other two being freshman "Terra Nova" and acclaimed cult fave but low-rater "Fringe". With 'House' gone, the chances of 'Nova' getting a renewal suddenly seem more likely. http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/23012/-house-axed-terra-nova-lives http://www.terranovatv.net/news/terra-nova-renewal-season-2-prospects-looking-good/
Two months after the fact, I'm finally watching the last episode on my dvr (last night). I hope this gets renewed. With better writing, I think there's a lot more potential from the existing plot.
And... Canceled by Fox. Not that many didn't see this coming. Show was given a good opportunity, but its own writing doomed it. They're trying to shop it to other networks (can't see anyone keeping it at the same budget though).
I half way enjoyed it, and would continue to watch it, but knew it wasn't good enough to make it longer than a couple seasons. The time slot hurt the show too... I can't remember what was on during it, but I remember thinking the other show(s) had it's target audience.
Oh well...screw it. Yea...sell it to Sci Fi where they can turn it into low budget junk with C. Thomas Howell, Jr. playing the Dad. He needs the work I imagine.
I try to avoid getting sucked into recurring shows. I only watch a couple of these types...and they tend to be only 30 minutes in length. So now I'm hugely disappointed in the fact that I invested my time into something that won't be returning...and was also getting real interested in the story line and different directions they could've taken it.
Read that this morninig, think it really could have improved in the 2nd season. Looks like Fox is going to be having a whole new crop of shows in the fall.
Damn. One of the few regular network shows I wanted to see succeed or actually wanted to watch. Oh well. No reason to watch anything on FOX now... lol. Man, I'm pissed.
The premise was viable, but mediocre writing and not-so-good acting killed the show. I wanted it to succeed but oh well.
