BTW- So sick of the stock market I moved a good portion of cash to commodities that have to do with grains and livestock markets around the world. So far after 9 months I'm at a 19% gain. McVean is based out of Memphis and they've been very, very good to me. I'm about to move a majority of my cash assets over next year until the market stops it's up and down play days. Or I might not. I'm doing well right now.
Anybody catch that rumor that Amazon apparently had inquired about making a bid for RIMM this past summer? Caused a bit of a pop in the after-hours on RIMM, I think.
It works. I just carry him around to make life decisions. I wash my hands often though, so 'sall good.
So I sold my rimm position early today for a little over 14 buck made like a 10% profit in a couple days. I was thinking about shorting some stocks givin the oracle earnings, but the spreads in super early trading are kind of steep.
I bought a RIMM on that news too after hours. I was hoping to hold it a few days. My thinking behind that was RIMM is slaughtered and it's a thin holiday market. Moves can get exaggerated sometimes. That didn't happen. I got stopped out at 13.50...made 50 cents/share. It still may bounce, but I didn't want to get caught in something that just slowly gave up gains back to my entry price. I had to lock in some profit. That being said I just got back long at 13.44 with a pretty tight stop. edit and out
Just a quick note for the gold bugs. If you check out the FXE and GLD charts for about the past 6 months they have pretty much mirrored each other. It will be interesting to see how this plays out going into 2012. Could provide a nice buying op if the Euro keeps dragging gold down.
Anyone read up on ZAGG? They make screen protectors and accessories for tablets, laptops, etc. Insider selloff caused it to drop 15% in 2 days. 52 week high was $17, it was at $12 earlier this month, now at $7. Sales are increasing as is revenue. Have LTD only recently due to the purchase of iFrogz (I think that's the reason for the debt), a similar business. Earnings are expected to continue to rise. While competition will be an issue, they seem to have a large part of the market, as well as patented technology for their screen protectors. Best selling screen protector at best buy. Apple and other companies keep pushing out new products almost monthly that require new screen protectors and cases, so I don't see a lack of need for their product. They're also working on a product called HzO, which pretty much makes your iphone and other accessories waterproof.
Holy ****! That stock is 46% short. I have no clue about the company's prospects, but that alone makes me want to run far far away from this stock.
Yeah, not to mention insiders just dumped a bunch of it at a very low price, compared to a couple weeks ago. Not sure what is going on...
Edit: From what I can tell, some, if not all of the insiders selling were the officers of ifrogz, the company that was just recently acquired by zagg. Maybe this was the earliest they are legally allowed to sell.
It's almost Jan 1st. Let's see what everyone is thinking about for their ROTH IRA for 2012? Any preliminary long-term stocks that look undervalued?
Whirlpool (WHR) is one to keep an eye on. Yield is around 4.4%. It's down from bad appliance sales and from the looming Sears bankruptcy. If it drops in the lower 40's or below it is a big buy imo. Right now it's certainly worth putting a little in if you don't want to try to time it perfect.
I am dying on my long gold position... bought in the summer near record highs, expecting for a drive to $2000/oz. by 12/31 with the a QE3 or ECB decision to print euros leading to anti-inflation bugs diving into gold with me... but Noooooooooo... i get hosed instead and am taking a big bath.
