Return to vintage jerseys?

What jerseys should the Rockets wear this season?

  1. The current red and white jerseys (2003-present)

    9.0%
  2. The blue and while pinstripe pajamas (1995-2003)

    7.5%
  3. The classic ketchup and mustard jerseys (pre-1995)

    83.5%

I like the red away ones above.

Honestly, I don't mind the colors we have now, I just wish our jerseys themselves had a tighter fitting look to them.

The part that comes over the shoulder shouldn't be as broad as with the current jerseys, and the shorts shouldn't be as floppy looking (IMO). To me, the uniforms that we have now actually look kind of hampering or at least uncomfortable to play in. The shorts almost look like skorts, they're so floppy!

The logo's ok, though I wouldn't mind a bit of a tweaking to it, a freshening.

Right, THIS again. And the same type responses.

    BUT

That these threads would get repeated SO MUCH just shows how UNSATISFACTORY the past 2 uniforms have been. The need to go back is just getting MORE urgent as time passes, not less.

If the Rockets went back to the vintage jerseys, would there be fans wanting to go back to THESE red & white ones? DOUBTFUL.

Just stop buying stuff with the new colors/logo and only buy retro Rockets stuff at the shop. Soon Les will realize what we want.

If I remember correctly there was no vote. It was actually a fan contest and the PJ's logo and uniform was the winning design as voted by team officials.

Can someone confirm this with me?

If we're going back to 80's pimp red and gold, let's get rid of Clutch and replace him with :

I voted for the flying dildo only because I want completely new digs and there was no option for it...

I did post this in the existing new jersey thread, but what the hell.

I agree with the vintage look. The logos and jerseys are timeless, it captures the nostalgia of championships previous and most importantly, they look the best.

please get rid of the wide sleeved jersey and go for a more tradition cut.

that's my main gripe with our uniform

Those would be ideal with a normal/modern cut (without the thick shoulders), and black alts instead of yellow (or just with additional black alts).

Wide sleeve can be done right. Look at any of the college cuts, or the recent team USA jersey from Athens. It's all in the fit, and our baggy jerseys aren't doing anyone any favours.

The scoop neck that the Cavs are using for example is just wrong in my opinion. They went full retro, never go full retro

Some teams can pull them off. I liked the Sixers jersey in the early 2000's and UK's

but not for this team IMO. I hate wearing the current jersey to games so I just wear the throwbacks.

    I liked these as well

I honestly think the clamor for retro unis has more to do with nostalgia than anything. Not that our current ones are great (I don't mind them) but the old ones weren't great either. We went away from the old unis because they didn't sell. We had just won 2 championships and nobody outside of Houston was rushing to buy ketchup and mustard apparel.

That said, I'm open to it depending on how they're tweaked. I really like what's posted here. The mustard is exchanged for a more golden color and it's use is minimal, leaving a predominantly red and white jersey. I approve.

imo, the way 'rockets' was spelled was in a more 'asian' font (no racist!). the redesign seemed specifically centered around yao and his 1 billion potential jersey purchasers - smart business move so im not criticizing them over it, but it seemed pretty obvious to me. and im w/ the OP - now that yao is gone lets change.

and how in the hell is the dildo in pinstripes beating the current one (43-41)???

i like those too - seems like this is what our unis would look like at this point if we had never gone off the rails w/ the dildo in pinstripes. its a more natural evolution of what was always the rockets unis.

I do think you have a point, the jerseys weren't perfect. But they were ours dammit!

I'll be honest though mine would still be ketchup and mustard, it's just noy reflected accurately, but I wasn't about to colour source for this image either. I prefer the dingier, more gritty palette that the Rox had in the 90's.

Space City, I'm a huge fan of the UK cut, not so much the Iverson era Sixers jersey, I think those are the best examples of how to do, and not to the wide shoulder.

For what it's worth, I didn't hate the dildo logo, but the jersey was atrocious. The NBA went through a phase of simply slapping these giant corporate logos onto jerseys and the result was hideous. I believe a while ago, someone on this site 'shopped Steve Francis in a midnight blue Rockets jersey, using the Lakers/Heat cut. It was class, and exactly how they should have been done.

The logo itself, sans dildo, wasn't that bad. Hell the Championship era Rockets logo wasn't much to gloat over either.
