This position is the least of our worries.

Such as Lynn Swann, hall-of-fame wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers:

I dunno if it's an answer but usually they suck at spelling in general..... It's not because Lin is so simple, consists of three letters.

Jeromie Liin may get a lot of attention because of this ethnic background, combined with this team's history with Yao Ming, but he really kind of follows the pattern of the kind of young players that Rockets has given at least a look at:

Productive at non-NBA level, foul drawing rate, non-ideal height but decent athleticism, good rebounder from the perimeter despite size, energetic defender.

You can see many of the same characteristics in everyone from regulars like Lowry and Chuck to 10-day contract/camp invite guys like Mike Harris and Marqus Blakely.

Actually at 6'3", he has pretty decent size at the 1. The reason I don't think he will ever be more than a backup is that he isn't a GREAT shooter nor is he ridiculously quick. At best he can be a decent game manager.

This is off topic, but actually at least two of those names above are traditionally male names that parents have taken over for their girl children within the last century.

Ashley is an example of another guy name that is now considered exclusively female, but not that long ago was an acceptable name for a man (think "Gone With the Wind"). Looks like this trend is continuing, with more "male" names being used for girls, reducing the pool of acceptable male names to choose from.

Sorry, can't resist, but I'm guessing you have done this research because you are a male, and your moniker is a female name.

I'm not buying that "laura" was ever a male name.

    No, but Lawrence is! ;)

I am indeed a Laura, and have two sons that my husband and I played the Name Game with (ie took names we liked and made fun of them, so that their names would be a mock-proof as possible on the playground <G>). No Ashleys, Kimberlys or Lynns in our household!

As for the research...I probably am not a stereotypical female in that some of my interests, habits and sense of humor skews a bit toward more male than female....hence my presence on a mostly male dominated basketball bulletin board.

Lawrence is the masculine form. As for Laurence, all the women I've met with this name were french.

    Hell no!

    Dragic > Lin

Dragic is actually a really underrated player.
