I'm hosting a Christmas party for the first time this year and was wondering what every one usually makes for their dinner and if there's any special holiday lager/drinks I should have too. Looking forward to any suggestions. Thanks!
For appetizer. Buy dates. Pit them. Wrap them in bacon. Stick a tooth pick in it. put it on foil on top of baking tray. Bake for 400 degrees for 10 mins. Take it out and change the foil to remove the grease and flip the bacon wrapped dates and bake another 10 minutes or until the bacon is cooked.
I'd like that dinner ANYTIME. And typically the menu is simular for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Nah, something different from what I just had leftovers of a couple of weeks ago. Some of us just have more adventurous palettes I suppose. If I did eat a sandwich for Christmas dinner it'd be awesome and flavorful. It wouldn't have any bland turkey on it, that much is for sure.
That's a brilliant idea. I'll try that next round. As for main course dinner I'm thinking Prime Rib or some Ribeye's.

I've gotten in to the habit the past few years of barbecuing for Christmas. Hanging around the grill with family and knocking back a few beers is awesome.
Been making a prime rib for the past 2 years and it's a hit every single time. A little different from the traditional turkey/ham.
Squid stuffed with a parmasean cheese stuffing, fried shrimp, and linguine as for a beer, Avery's Old Jubilation, Left Hand's Fade to Black vol 3 or if u like a fruitier christmas beer, new belgium's frambozen. most christmas beers are gimmicky and overrated, but those 3 are all excellent.
I think we're doing pancetta-wrapped braised rabbit from my wife's restaurant and a divine lemon semifredo for dessert. Not sure yet about side courses. Might bust out a take on a Caesar salad with an anchovy vinegarette. It does not suck being married to a chef.
