Jordan Hill is going to be wanted after this year. His FT% is the only thing that will hinder him, he looks focus unlike TWill, who looks like he is having too much fun.
I'm with you on this one. These posts are almost comical. First Hill is a center. He flops there so the "official" Clutchfans excuse to explain what happened was that he's really a power forward who was playing out of position. NOW I'm reading an "excuse" that he was experiencing personal problems last year which were responsible for his poor level of play (a nice way of saying that he sucked). Riiiight. Now, I can understand that the Rockets find themselves in a desperate situation with regards to front line players although a lot of this is largely due to their own actions in the past. As such, all of the red koolaid addicts here are desperately looking for any sign or clue that can make them feel optimistic about the upcoming NBA season. I get that but wishing simply does not make it so and at some point you have to start believing what your eyes tell you and Hill is simply not that good. He's OK but that's about all. He's a decent rotation player but not someone who can be counted on to contribute frontline minutes or results. Doing so is simply setting yourself up for big disappointment later when he fails to deliver in the manner which folks here are hoping.
Exactly. Pretty telling when PatPat, who started off in the D-League, was beating him out for minutes by the end of last year.
He's basing his prediction on Hill's performance in a preseason game against a Spurs team that's going through the motions as it coasts through preseason.
Jordan Hill has two or three double doubles in his CAREER in regular season NBA games. He's not averaging that double-double this year, sorry. And he's not a center. He really needs someone else to play center so he can stick to PF. I'm looking at you Thabeet.
If he is given the minutes he will perform, 11pts 15rbds 1blk tonight in 28 mins He is 6pts 8rbds per game so far in sporadic minutes. I like what I am seeing with the growth of J Hill.
He needs to bring energy and hustle every minute also Rebound a lot constantly. - Now I have been happy with I have been seeing so far in these departments. If only now he can just be at the right place at the right time on both ends. Especially on defensive rotations. This is his main weakness.
Nice effort by Jordan Hill tonight. One thing that annoys me, though, is when he gets a defensive rebound he doesn't know how to throw an outlet pass. He hangs on to the ball for 1-2 seconds looking for someone to pass the ball to. The Rockets need to be pushing the ball up the floor when they get stops. Chuck Hayes was great at that. Patterson is also pretty good at throwing the outlet pass, but he apparently hasn't figured out how to defensive rebound.
I had high hopes for Hill but I give up. He's just got low basketball IQ. His defense is bad. Why does he keep on hopping to move around? Putting your center of mass in the air makes it easy to push you away. Big man movement is all about having thrift steps.
He is not a center, he is a power forward who can rebound, finish the break and score off put backs and pick and rolls to the basket. Why do we continue to post him up and let him go to work on the block is beyond me. He is what he is, if used correctly he will produce double double like numbers or close to it.
In 15 minutes of play he is averaging 5 points 5 rebounds and a block. He may not be the most polished player, but if you actually watch the games he does finish the break well, can and does score on pick and rolls to the basket & has been working hard on the boards - even with his flu / chest infection the past 2 weeks. If used correctly, within his limitations, he is a productive player. Olajuwon he is not, I agree...so I wish that we would not post him up on the block more than twice a game if that, for now.
