If we resign him I think he should also be moved to his natural position at the 4. Having him in with Thabeet or Smith could be big in their development. He'll make up for a lot of their mistakes.
This is a WIN / WIN for him and us. He can get his money and we didn't overpay for another ROLEPLAYER. This is a WIN / WIN for us. too. Hill, Thabeet, & Smith or BUST. They can play or we get a higher draft pick and don't have to pay back the Nets. Here is still an other WIN / WIN. We can put to rest the thought of "If given time or in time" on Thabeet or Hill. They are both in the last year of their contracts - this really works out well if one thinks about it. PLAY or WALK The last WIN / WIN. Smith will get some burn with the pace of this years season any way. If one of the two others can't go just more time PT for the rookie. If it gets really bad we have Pat Patterson, too. We will be okay. GOOD JOB on this on DM the GM
This all works out great no hiding behind the vet of Sammy they gotta come out and show what they have now seeing that their all in a contract year. Win and we could be the Memphis from last year or loose and we get a high draft pick in a deep 2012 draft. Everything is coming into play for next years off-season.
Rockets out of Dalembert pursuit reports Aldridge: http://twitter.com/#!/daldridgetnt/statuses/149126129154928640 "@daldridgetnt David Aldridge Sources: Rockets, at the moment, taking a pass ($) on Dalembert, leaving return to Kings as s possibility."
No Dalembert = no playoffs. Bottom line. Hill doesn't cut it, Thabeet will be a foul machine. Start Patterson alongside Scola and bring in Hill and Smith behind them while Thabeet fouls out before halftime. We have to face reality we are not good so just suck get out of this mediocre position and state of mind.
Rockets not signing Dalembert is a win-win move. We either pull a mid-season trade for a better C (Bogut anyone?), Thabeet, Hill or Smith breaks out or we fail miserably and get a top pick in a deep draft. All three options are better than signing Dalembert and still manage to maintain the flexibility we need to truly rebuild the roster.
Hill had a good game against a Tim Duncan-less SA team, I hope the Rockets aren't making this decision based on that one game. I can live with Hill, but worry about him getting in foul trouble. Maybe they like what they see out of Thabeet or has G. Smith caught their eye?
Smith caught my eye, a very small sample, but for some reason he impressed me. Has an NBA body and moves well.
